The Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act (APAGA) requires that all public agencies have a Mandate and Roles Document and a Code of Conduct. Both must be made available to the public. These documents are posted in the list of public agencies for all public agencies subject to the APAGA.

The Legal Profession Act requires that financial institutions must pay interest from lawyer's general trust accounts to the Alberta Law Foundation. The Foundation then makes these funds available to a variety of organizations that undertake activities meeting the Foundation’s goals, which include public legal education, law libraries, law research and reform, native legal programs and student legal aid programs.
