Wilkie, Jill
Jill Wilkie is a Partner at Miller Thomson LLP in Calgary. She has experience in employment law, employment standards, labour law, human rights, privacy, health law, and commercial litigation. She has served on the Privacy Committee of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers, the Provincial Court Nominating Committee and as a member of the Federal Judicial Advisory Committee on Judicial Appointments for Alberta. Jill has a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society and a Bachelor of Laws degree, both from the University of Calgary.
Jill Wilkie was directly recruited and appointed on the basis of acceptably meeting the competencies, skills and attributes required by the Council.
Kennedy, Gerard
Gerard Kennedy is a member of the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law. He researches the role of courts in society, specifically how different actors within or adjacent to the legal profession uphold the rule of law and facilitate access to justice. He principally does this through analyzing civil procedure, constitutional law, and administrative law. He has authored over thirty journal articles and five books on these topics. Professor Kennedy was previously a faculty member of the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Law and litigator at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. A member of the bars of Ontario, Manitoba, and Alberta, he is an active member of the legal profession. In addition to the Judicial Council, he serves on the Federal Courts Rules Committee, and the (advisory) boards of Advocates for the Rule of Law, the Centre for Constitutional Studies, and the Edmonton Bar Association. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, a Juris Doctor from Queen's University, a Masters of Law from Harvard Law School, and a Doctorate from Osgoode Hall Law School.
