Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity that adds value to the everyday life of Albertans, while also serves to expand your network of peers and builds upon your experiences? If so the Expert Committee on Drug Evaluation and Therapeutics (committee) might be the right fit for you.

We are currently seeking individuals to join the committee as physician members of the committee who will have the opportunity to help broaden Alberta’s access to advances in modern medicine while providing senior government leadership with sound advice and counsel.

The committee schedules meetings typically in person in Edmonton. Meetings are currently occurring remotely and virtually via Webex.
About the Agency

The committee is an expert drug advisory committee established under section 7 of the Government Organization Act. The committee provides advice to the Minister, as requested, related to the Alberta Drug Benefit List (ADBL), which lists Drug Products that may be available to members of a government-sponsored drug plan or program. The committee also participates in the process by which the Minister or his delegate makes decisions on the inclusion, deletion, coverage criteria, interchangeability and benefit status of Drug Products on the ADBL, by reviewing drug submissions and applying its expertise to assess the scientific, therapeutic, clinical and socio-economic merits of Drug Products.

Physician members are appointed by the Minister for a term of up to three years. The committee will have up to 10 members, and approximately six of whom shall be physicians, with expertise in evaluating the therapeutic value and cost-effectiveness of drug products. The committee also includes a chair and vice-chair appointed by the Minister.
