Ron LaJeunesse retired to central Alberta after a lengthy career as CEO of the Alberta Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association and of the Alberta Mental Health Board, where he has been credited with providing leadership to innovative mental health services, including the Horizon Housing Society, the Consumer Network, the Alliance for Mental Illness and Health and the Suicide Prevention Centre in Calgary. He has taught at the college level with the Saskatchewan Department of Health and at Mount Royal College in Calgary. Mr. LaJeunesse has chaired the Greater St. Albert School Board and served as an Edmonton Police Commissioner. Educated in psychiatric nursing, educational psychology and business administration at the Universities of Saskatchewan, Alberta and Calgary, Mr. LaJeunesse has both presented and consulted in the United States, Europe, Australia and Africa. He has received numerous professional and community service awards, including a Governor General’s medal. Mr. LaJeunesse has published four books, including Political Asylums, for which he won Alberta’s top literary award. Mr. LaJeunesse is married with four adult sons and seven grandchildren.
