Kravtsenyuk, Maryana

Dr. Kravtsenyuk is a forensic psychiatrist who works with mentally disordered accused population to provide psychiatric expertise and care at various stages of criminal proceedings.


Dr. Kravtsenyuk has board/committee experiences from the following boards: Academic Indigenous Health Education Committee, Northern School of Medicine (September 2020 to present); Regional Advisory Committee, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (May 2020 to present).

Steblecki Corns, Jane

Ms. Jane Steblecki Corns is a Registered Nurse and an active lawyer with a longstanding career focused on health and privacy law. She has experience appearing before administrative tribunals as well making administrative law decisions. Before acting as in-house conduct counsel for College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, Ms. Corns was a partner with Field LLP, worked for the Health Law Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Alberta as well as operated a private practice under Steblecki Law.


Ms. Corns is also one of the founders of the Northern Alberta Canadian Bar Association Privacy Law section and has served on various health research ethics boards.

Urness, Douglas

Dr. Urness is the Zone Clinical Department Head, Addiction and Mental Health, Central Zone, Alberta Health Services. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Calgary. He is clinically active in the areas of in-patient psychiatry, Mental Health Clinics, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Telepsychiatry. He is the past Chair of the Canadian Psychiatric Association Professional Standards and Practices Committee and an ongoing member of the CPA’s working group on Choosing Wisely. Dr. Urness is a graduate of the University of Alberta Medical School and Psychiatry Residency Training Programs.?

Metelitsa, Yuri

Yuri Metelitsa, MD, Ph.D. (Psychiatry), Dr.Sci. (Psychiatry) has more than 40 years of experience as a general and forensic psychiatrist. He worked at Serbsky Research Institute for General and Forensic Psychiatry (Moscow, Russia). Since moving to Canada, Dr. Metelitsa has been consistently working as a general and forensic psychiatrist. Currently, he is a psychiatrist at the Forensic Psychiatry Division, Calgary Regional Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Metelitsa is also a Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of Calgary.

Tuttle, John

Dr. John Tuttle had completed his medial and psychiatric training at the University of Calgary. He is a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada, registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Psychiatry. Dr. Tuttle practiced psychiatry in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He has a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment with the University of Calgary. Dr. Tuttle had previously served with Calgary Zone, Alberta Health Services as the Medical Director of Outpatient Services, Psychiatry and the Site Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Rockyview Hospital, Calgary.

Kherani, Shaffin

Mr. Shaffin Kherani completed a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Agriculture Economics, and a Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta. He is currently employed with the City of Edmonton as a Corporate Infrastructure Manager. His professional experience includes over a decade of management experience with the City of Edmonton, University of Alberta, Government of Alberta and various private sector industries. Mr. Kherani’s background also involves current and past service on the Board of Directors of non-profit organizations. Mr. Kherani is also currently a public member for the Edmonton and North Mental Health Review Panel.

Kreiner, Monica

Monica Kreiner is the owner of Moniyasko Consulting; providing applied social research, mediation, facilitation, and writing services. She is a chartered mediator, a designation of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada. Monica mediates on the Alberta Justice Civil Court and Family rosters as well as privately. She is a Gladue Report writer for Alberta Justice and does contract work in the Indigenous community around Restorative Justice. Monica has a master’s degree in education.

Meakins, Debra

Debra Meakins earned her B.A. Hons. in Classics at the University of Alberta, then pursued a Diploma in Art Conservation at Sir Sandford Fleming College, serving her internship at the Royal Ontario Museum. She was awarded a M.A. in Art History from the University of Toronto, after which she earned her LL.B. at the University of Alberta, and was called to the bar in 2009. She has served as a Public Member on the MHRP since 2015. Debra volunteers at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, and was the 2014 Distinguished Service Award recipient.

Greenaway, Malanie

Malanie has been a public member of the Mental Health Review Panel since 2014. She has a degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alberta and is a member in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists. As a Manager of Quality and Patient Safety at Alberta Health Services in Edmonton, she is passionate about improving the healthcare system to make care safer for patients.

Norris, Lynn Marie

Lynn Marie Norris is a retired registered nurse who worked extensively with persons experiencing mental health issues. Lynn is currently the Vice President of her Condominium Board and in the past was Chair, Vice Chair and Member at Large of a local high school. Lynn was a Mental Health First Aid instructor and trained as a psychiatric nurse.

DiPinto, Genna

Genna DiPinto is an advocate for the inclusion of young people in decision-making. She is also a biology major and political minor student at the University of Alberta. She serves as chair of the City of Edmonton Youth Council, an advisory board to Edmonton City Council. Genna also serves as an elected science councillor on the University of Alberta Students’ Union, as a member of the Edmonton Centre Youth Council for Member of Parliament Randy Boissonnault, and as a volunteer with a variety of community organizations.

Jackman, Joshua

Joshua has over ten years of experience in wealth management, banking, and financial services. He holds a BSc in mathematics (minor in economics) from the University of Alberta. In addition to serving on various boards and committees, Joshua is a strong advocate for education and has volunteered extensively through Junior Achievement, a non-profit organization that strives to educate students on life-skills and business fundamentals. He also continues to volunteer time as a private tutor and remains deeply involved in the causes of mental health.

Macphail, Emily

Ms. Emily Macphail received her Bachelor of Health Sciences and is now completing her joint Doctor of Medicine/Master of Science at the University of Calgary. Her master’s research focuses on the relationship of nutrition, gut microbiota, and mental health in adolescents. Ms. Macphail has experience serving on committees including the University of Calgary Senate, the Canadian Federation of Medical Students Executive Board, and the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer. She has an interest in youth wellbeing and in advocating for patient- and family-centered healthcare. Currently, Ms. Macphail is an instructor for Mental Health First Aid.

Shields, Gordon

Gordon George Shields is a retired manager of inpatient Mental Health Services at Rockyview General Hospital with 32 years of service. Gordon is a current member of the Calgary South Mental Health Review Panel and has in the past served on the board of the Elizabeth Fry Society. Gordon’s career began in Scotland where he obtained status as registered nurse in both general and mental health nursing. At this time he achieved the honour of Nurse of the Year. Gordon then emigrated to Canada and obtained a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.

Gupta, Mehul

Mehul Gupta is a passionate leader in the areas of youth and adolescent mental health and education. A current board member with the Calgary Youth Science Fair and Kids Help Phone, Mehul hopes to develop a stronger and more inclusive community in Alberta. Aside from his work with these organizations, Mehul founded an immigrant mental health education program called RANA Youth in 2014, and has advised government on how to best reach out to this vulnerable population to provide them the resources they need to thrive.

Pound, Colleen

Colleen Pound is the CEO and Head Strategist, of POUND Consulting. Her firm focuses on corporate turn arounds, transitions and transformations.


With over 25 years’ experience, Ms. Pound is an Executive Advisor to some of Canada’s best-known businesses. Colleen has extensive experience in the energy sector, professional services, technology and utilities.


Colleen completed an International MBA and completed her Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D). She is part of the Alberta Order of Excellence Council, the University of Calgary Senate, the Management Advisory Committee at Haskayne School of Business, and on a private, Denver-based start-up board.

Windwick, Brent

Brent Windwick is a student, teacher and practitioner in health law, policy and research ethics. He was the Executive Director of the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta, and a lawyer with a specialized practice in health law and risk management for more than 30 years. Brent has a Master of Law degree from the University of Cambridge, advanced conflict resolution training from Harvard Law School, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health Care Quality from Queen’s University.

Sproule, Sharon

Sharon Sproule brings over 20 years of legal experience encompassing client advocacy, dispute resolution and trial representation. She has extensive knowledge and experience in board governance, health law and administrative law. Ms. Sproule is currently serving as a Board Director for the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce and as an appointed Public Member of the Physiotherapy Alberta College + Association. In addition to her Board work, Ms. Sproule is currently a part-time Tribunal Member with the Alberta Human Rights Commission.

Prowse, Deborah

Deborah E. Prowse, K.C. has an extensive background in combined areas of social work and law, which includes 11 years as a Sitting Justice of the Peace in the Provincial Court of Alberta, Traffic Division. In addition she has served as a Panel member with the Alberta Human Rights Commission and was a full time Commissioner in the Office of the Chief Commissioner. She also brings the significant experience of volunteer work with a variety of organizations related to crisis management and health care.


Ms. Prowse was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and in her teens moved to Calgary. She attended the University of Alberta for her first undergraduate degree and University of Calgary for her second in Social Work. She then attended the University of British Columbia for her Master of Social Work degree and finished off with a law degree from University College Cardiff in Wales.


Ms. Prowse started her work in alternate dispute resolution in 1984 when she was trained in Family Mediation by John Haynes. She practiced law in the areas of family, criminal, and wills and estates and offered mediation services in workplace, family and community disputes. She has also done extensive work in investigation and resolution of workplace human rights issues related to harassment and discrimination.


Following the death of her mother from a series of adverse events in her healthcare, Ms. Prowse became an avid patient safety advocate. She was one of the founding members of the Calgary Health Region’s Patient/Family Safety Council, Patients for Patients’ Safety-Canada, the Alberta Health Quality Council’s Patient Family Safety Panel and is a Patient Safety Champion with the World Health Organization. She also served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute.


Ms. Prowse has been a lecturer with the University of Calgary and Mount Royal College. She was co-chair of the Health Law Subsection, Canadian Bar Association and oversaw the Bar Admission Course in 1999. She has taught a variety of 40 hour conflict management and mediation skills courses. She is recognized as a popular national and international speaker on patient safety and patient engagement.


Ms. Prowse has most recently been appointed as the first permanent Health Advocate, a term that ended in June of this year. She also acted a the Interim Mental Health Advocate in the Office of Health Advocates.

Mockridge, Britton

A lawyer who has practiced his profession for many years in Calgary, the Middle East and internationally including London, Dubai, Kuwait, Australia, China, Vietnam, in the oil and gas industry. He donates his time to many charitable causes including hospice and palliative, which affect all ages and segments of society.

Huot, Denis

Born and raised in Alberta, Denis Huot did his undergraduate education at the University of Alberta; he has a law degree from the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University. He has extensive Board and Chair experience with local boards and community associations. Denis was an active lawyer for 25.5 years both as a crown prosecutor and as a private lawyer. As a prosecutor, Denis oversaw the implementation of the Mental Health Diversion Project in Red Deer. Denis is currently a part-time instructor at the Donald School of Business in Red Deer.

Hnatko, Gary

Dr. Gary Hnatko trained at the University of Alberta, obtaining his Doctor of Medicine in 1980 and fellowship in psychiatry in 1985. He completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Dr. Hnatko has held numerous academic and leadership positions including Program Director for General Psychiatry, Division and Section Head Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (University of Alberta, Alberta Health Services), Chair Specialty Committee in Psychiatry and current Chair of the Specialty Committee in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (RCPSC). He is a core member of the Mental Health and Addictions Strategic Clinical Network, Professor Emeritus (University of Alberta) and co-editor and author of “Approaches to Postgraduate Education in Psychiatry in Canada”.

Dr. Hnatko continues to provide direct psychiatric care across the life span and has worked in both inpatient and community settings. He has provided leadership at both the clinical (Medical Director CASA), regional, provincial and national levels (Canadian Psychiatric Association, Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Alberta Medical Association). Dr. Hnatko has received awards in education, The RH Mewburn Memorial Prize in Clinical and Liaison Psychiatry, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Circle on Mental Health and Addiction’s True Compassion Award.

Stovel, Laura

Laura Stovel is a practicing psychiatrist who works at the University of Alberta Hospital.

Laura has held positions on Boards, including the Examination Board in Psychiatry at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, where she is the Vice-Chair.

Laura is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta, where she teaches medical students and residents, and is Associate Chair of Education. Laura holds a BA and an MD from the University of Alberta.

LaJeunesse, Tomy

Dr. Nadia Tomy is a psychiatrist who works with adults suffering from mental health problems. She has past experience working with the University of Alberta's Residency Training Program Committee in her role as psychotherapy coordinator. Dr. Tomy is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada; she has also completed additional training in multiple psychotherapy modalities. Dr. Tomy holds a medical degree from the University of Ottawa and completed her residency training at the University of Alberta.

Al Faraj, Noura

Dr. Noura Al Faraj graduated from King Faisal University School, College of Medicine, Saudi Arabia in 2004. Dr. Al Faraj moved to Montreal in 2006 and started her psychiatry residency program at McGill University. She successfully became a certified psychiatrist by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2011. After that, she completed a clinical fellowship in early psychosis at University of British Columbia. Dr. Al Faraj returned to Saudi Arabia in 2013. Since 2014, she has worked as a psychiatrist at Peter Lougheed Centre inpatient and day hospital program, as well as at Sunridge community-based clinic.

Mohamed, Zahra

Dr. Zahra Mohamed completed her medical degree from the University of Nottingham, England in 2004. She went on to complete her residency in psychiatry at the University of Manitoba and successfully became a certified psychiatrist by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2009. Dr. Zahra is currently working as a Consultant Psychiatrist with the Perinatal Mental Health program and is also a clinical lecturer in psychiatry at the University of Calgary.

Petrov, Elena

Dr. Elena Petrov currently practices general psychiatry in the outpatient mental health programs at the Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) in Calgary. Her past experience includes over 10 years of in-patient psychiatry both as a staff psychiatrist and as clinical medical director at RGH. As part of this practice, she had extensive experience interacting with the Mental Health Review Panel, presenting patient cases as part of the appeal process.

Dr. Petrov is currently also a physician member of the Alberta Health Services Provincial Public Health Postpartum Depression Screening, Assessment and Referral Advisory Committee.

Dr. Petrov has been involved in classroom and bedside teaching and preceptorship for undergraduate and residents at the Cumming School of Medicine of the University of Calgary. She has also been a member of the organizing committee for annual scientific conferences in women’s mental health and psychotherapy.

As a result of her training and professional experience, Dr. Petrov has developed strong listening and communication skills. She considers objectivity and critical thinking as the crucial components of treatment decision-making, informed by current scientific evidence.

Milani, Ali-Reza

Dr. Ali-Reza Milani has practiced psychiatry for 16 years, with over 10 years of independent practice in Canada. Currently, he works as a consulting psychiatrist with Alberta Health Services and acts as a preceptor for the Family Medicine residency training at the University of Calgary. He is also a clinical assistant professor with department of psychiatry, University of Calgary. To further his psychiatric knowledge, he has completed two Psychiatry Fellowships in Ontario. Some of his other achievements include publications and poster presentations that focus on mental health and psychiatric disorders.

Crockford, David

Dr. David Crockford is a Clinical Professor at the University of Calgary with the Department of Psychiatry where he has practiced inpatient and outpatient psychiatry as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons for the past 21 years. He is a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Examiner in Psychiatry since 2001. He is certified in Addiction Medicine a Fellow of the Canadian & American Psychiatry in Addiction Medicine a Fellow of the Canadian & American Psychiatric Associations.

Watson, Doug

Dr. Doug Watson is a psychiatrist in private consulting practise in Calgary and is privileged at the public mental health clinics and rural hospitals in Canmore and Banff. He was the Medical lead, Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Orders, Alberta Health Services between 2009 an 2016. Dr. Watson previously served as Executive Medical director, Alberta Mental Health Board and as Lead Psychiatrist, Southern Alberta Shared Mental Health Care Program. Dr. Watson is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at University of Calgary and Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta. He is active in clinical teaching of medical students, residents and continuing professional development of family physicians. Dr. Watson has a medical degree form the University of Alberta, fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Psychiatric Association and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Watson is a specialist member of the Northwest Territories' Review Board and the Nunavut Board of Review. He is a Past President of the Alberta Psychiatric Association and has served on committees of the Alberta, Canadian and American Psychiatric Associations.

Milne, Denise

Dr. Denise Milne is the CEO of CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health and the CASA Foundation in Edmonton, Alberta. Dr. Milne is also the chair of the Alberta Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health.

Prior to 2014, Dr. Milne was the provincial lead for fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). Her previous employment with the Alberta Mental Health Board included the provincial director for the Professional Practice Councils, program director of adult psychiatry, program director of forensic psychiatry and director of social work. She was also a mental health consultant for the Government of Alberta and a probation and parole officer and social worker at the Edmonton Youth Development Centre.

Dr. Milne completed her doctorate in psychology. Denise has master degree in clinical social work, master in science in administration, and master in counseling psychology along with a bachelor degree in social work and a bachelor degree in criminology, sociology and law. Dr. Milne is an advanced practice clinical social worker and registered provisional psychologist.

Dr. Milne has taught at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary and has conducted investigations for the Alberta College of Social Workers.

Laycock, Todd

Todd Laycock has 25 years with the Edmonton Police Service, 2014 he moved to industrial security. He has experience in operational, investigative, administrative, patrol, major crimes and human resources divisions. His work in industrial security is with Alberta oil and gas. He has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Alberta, Certificate in Police Management from University of Alberta Faculty of Extension, and designations in industrial security from the American Society for Industrial Security.

Bunting, Natalie

Natalie Bunting has significant experience in the utility industry; bringing with her expertise and leadership in project controls, regulatory compliance, financial reporting and audit.


She has over 20 years of Board experience which includes oversight of an affordable housing portfolio and participating on community development projects such as the creation of a number of new parks.


Natalie has completed additional training in the areas of negotiations and mediation. She is a professionally designated accountant; CPA, CMA.

Buchanan, Samuel

Samuel Buchanan is a small business operator. Previously, Mr. Buchanan was a policeman with the RCMP. He has been a member of the Calgary Police Service Pipe Band for 17 years. He has played in many venues and countries, including the Opening of the Juno Centre in France and the 60th Anniversary of D-Day.


Mr. Buchanan is also a Red Deer city councillor. He is a director on the AUMA Board of Directors. He sits on the Safe and Healthy Communities Committee and the Fentanyl Task Force which is part of the Valuing Mental Health Addictions Advisory Committee. He is part of the Alberta First Radio Responders Communication System - Interoperability Committee.

LaJeunesse, Ronald

Ron LaJeunesse retired to central Alberta after a lengthy career as CEO of the Alberta Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association and of the Alberta Mental Health Board, where he has been credited with providing leadership to innovative mental health services, including the Horizon Housing Society, the Consumer Network, the Alliance for Mental Illness and Health and the Suicide Prevention Centre in Calgary. He has taught at the college level with the Saskatchewan Department of Health and at Mount Royal College in Calgary. Mr. LaJeunesse has chaired the Greater St. Albert School Board and served as an Edmonton Police Commissioner.


Educated in psychiatric nursing, educational psychology and business administration at the Universities of Saskatchewan, Alberta and Calgary, Mr. LaJeunesse has both presented and consulted in the United States, Europe, Australia and Africa. He has received numerous professional and community service awards, including a Governor General’s medal. Mr. LaJeunesse has published four books, including Political Asylums, for which he won Alberta’s top literary award.


Mr. LaJeunesse is married with four adult sons and seven grandchildren.

Beier, Marvin

Marvin Beier worked in the banking industry for 32 years, retiring from a Marketplace Manager role with ATB Financial in 2017. He currently owns and operates a financial consulting business and is the Returning Officer for the federal electoral district of Red Deer-Lacombe.


Marvin has contributed to his local community his entire life. Most recently he has been a volunteer with the Ponoka FCSS CVIT Program and Auction Committee chair with Ponoka Kinsmen club.


Marvin holds a Bachelor of Management Degree from Athabasca University.

Porter, Joel

Joel Porter is a practitioner and dispatcher with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and previously completed a career in law enforcement. Both of these careers exposed Joel to the issues surrounding mental health issues and treatment programs available in Alberta. In addition, Joel has also been appointed to the Alberta Transportation Safety Board and the Mental Health Review Panel Roster.

Gautama, Bob

Dhiraj (Bob) Gautama is an executive with expertise in strategic planning, financial management and program development, and currently works in a professional association environment. Bob has served on non-profit, public and private sector boards, including governance committee and audit committee (chair) roles. Bob is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Director (C.Dir). Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University and a Business Administration diploma from the BC Institute of Technology.

Pavelich, Joy

Joy holds a Master of Arts degree in Professional Communications. As Executive Lead, National Stakeholder Engagement at CMHA National. Joy supports program innovations in mental health addiction. She sat on the MHCC's National Advisory Council on the Mental Health of Emerging Adults, Mobros nation-wide research Advisory Council, and several regional councils. She was honoured for her work with Indigenous youth with a Blackfoot name Natoyii Kittssta Kia Kii. Having lost her son to suicide, Joy authored a book, "Chasing My Son Across Heaven"

Osinchuk, James

James Osinchuk graduated with honours from Austin O’Brien High School in 1972. He entered the University of Alberta in September of that year. In 1976 he was awarded his Bachelors of Medicine Degree, and graduated in 1978 with his Medical Doctorate. He entered the university post graduate program in psychiatry, having interned at the Misericordia Hospital. He received his fellowship in June 1983 and is a member of The Royal College of Physicians and Psychiatrists. He is a member of the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta, Alberta Medical Association, Alberta Psychiatric Association and Canadian Medical Protection Association. As a resident, he completed two papers on the Mental Health Act and assisted with the rewrite of the Act in 2009, (proclaim 2010). His preferred areas of practice are inpatient psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry, outpatient consultation psychiatry, and he has worked in the areas of forensic psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry and emergency psychiatry. He has been actively involved with most aspects of psychiatry including patient assessments, counseling, mental health clinics, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry for thirty-four years.

Cummins, Mary

Dr. Mary Cummins is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta, where she has practiced inpatient and outpatient psychiatry as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She completed her medical training at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Dr. Cummins is passionate about teaching and has been involved as a preceptor, mentor, and examiner for medical students and psychiatry residents for many years.

John, Nicholas

Dr. Nicholas John attended University of Alberta (BMedSci, MD), Saskatchewan, Toronto (FRCP Psychiatry), and McGill (Arts). He currently is a community-based psychiatrist, having founded Academy Psychiatry in 2007. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta where he has taught psychiatric disability assessment, psychotherapy, and History of Psychiatry and Faculty of Extension courses. Dr. John also worked as a General Practitioner and has served on the Science Council of the Canadian Psychiatric Association.

MacArthur, Sarah

Dr. Sarah MacArthur is a practicing psychiatrist at the University of Alberta Hospital. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Acadia University, an MD degree at the University of Toronto, and completed a psychiatric residency at the University of Alberta. She has had the opportunity to sit on committees for both the Alberta Psychiatric Association and the Psychiatry Residency program at the University of Alberta.

Fung, Eric

Dr. Eric Fung is a general adult psychiatrist with broad experience delivering acute care inpatient, emergency, and outpatient services, along with intensive outreach work for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. He completed medical school at the University of Alberta and psychiatry residency at the University of Calgary. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and an active specialist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. He also carries a faculty appointment at the University of Calgary for his involvement in postgraduate and undergraduate medical education.

Mirok, Deepak

Dr. Deepak Mirok is a psychiatrist in Calgary, Alberta who works with patients experiencing various mental health disorders. His work focuses on reducing the impact of mental health problems on work, relationships and helping patients live fulfilled lives. Dr. Mirok is a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians of Canada and a member of Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK. He is licensed to practice as a Psychiatrist by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Bazlik, Bonnie

Bonnie Bazlik graduated with a BScN in 1997 and has been actively practicing as a Registered Nurse for the past 25 years. She currently works as a Clinical Nurse Educator in the Professional Practice Office at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Edmonton, Alberta. Bonnie has been a member of the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) Hearing Tribunal where she functions as a member and a chair for hearings within the conduct department. She is enrolled and is working towards completing a Masters in Nursing and is an advocate for the vulnerable population.

MacDonald, Bradley

Mr. MacDonald is completing a Bachelor of Laws Graduate Studies through the University of London. Prior to this, he had a 30 year career with Edmonton Police Service (EPS), ten of which he was a Superintendent. Through the EPS he participated in many projects, such as the creation of the Edmonton Police Foundation. Mr. MacDonald has participated on several committees, including Chair of the National Law Enforcement Interoperability Committee. He has received many accolades, including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for outstanding community service in 2015.

Enns, Christine

Christine S. Enns was first appointed to the Law Enforcement Review Board in 2011, and designated as Chair in 2021. After a career as a professional musician with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Ms. Enns was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in 2002 initially working in private legal practice, then with the Alberta Human Rights Commission as a Human Rights Officer. Ms. Enns also serves on the Appeals Commission for Alberta Workers’ Compensation.

Hutchinson, Lynn

Lynn Hutchinson has a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus in psychology. She has experience working in the mental health field as a Registered Social Worker and a Provincial Registered Psychologist. Lynn has worked in the field of trauma, grief, and loss, and in conflict resolution as an arbitrator, coach, facilitator, and mediator. She has a background in legal studies and acts as a court appointed parenting expert.

Colenutt, Avril

Avril Colenutt is a lawyer and adjudicator and currently sits as the vice-chair of the Community and Social Services Board, hearing appeals for multiple panels. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of British Columbia. Avril has previously worked with Legal Aid Alberta, the Justice Studies Program at Bow Valley College, and the City of Calgary Law Department. She volunteers as a pro bono lawyer with Calgary Legal Guidance and is a volunteer member of the Calgary Search and Rescue Association.

Klein, Linda

Linda Klein is a retired justice system professional, having spent over 38 years working in the justice system. She was a parole officer and a program officer in the community and within a federal institution with Correctional Service Canada. After retiring, Linda was appointed to the Parole Board of Canada and then the Public Health Appeal Board. Linda is presently a community member of the Mental Health Review Board and continues to volunteer in the community – the Airdrie agricultural society and, more recently, the Calgary Distress Centre.

Armstrong, Matthew

Matthew Armstrong works with the Product Design team at Hopewell Residential. He graduated from the University of Lethbridge, where he majored in Psychology, with a Bachelor of Arts in 2009. In 2011 he received a Diploma in Architectural Technologies, with Honours, from SAIT Polytechnic. After his studies, Matthew spent time working with various student advocacy organizations where he championed mental health. In 2013, while working as the Chairperson of the Alberta Students’ Executive Council he helped secure a $1.5 million dollar grant from the Ministry of Health for their members to run student lead mental health initiatives on campus.

Bradford, Megan

Megan Bradford is a second generation Albertan with expertise in public policy and regulation. Megan holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Victoria, and over 10 years of experience in oil and gas, pipeline and power fields, and both in finance and regulatory roles. Megan has committee experience with the Land Agent Advisory Committee, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Pipeline Tariffs and Tolls Committee, and with the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.

Ladhani, Naeem

Naeem Ladhani received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the University of Alberta, and he subsequently completed industrial pharmacy residency training at the University of Toronto. Mr. Ladhani is a licensed pharmacist and is currently Manager of Provincial Outpatient Pharmacy Contracts at Alberta Health Services. He continues to practice as a clinical pharmacist at independent pharmacies on a casual basis. Mr. Ladhani has a great interest in healthcare, policy and governance. He currently serves on the Alberta Out of Country Health Services Appeal Panel, the Alberta College of Pharmacists Hearing Tribunal and the Canadian Council of Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs Accreditation Committee for Pharmacy Technician Programs. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association for Population Therapeutics as well as on the University of Alberta Senate and the University of Alberta Academic Planning Committee.

Gordon, Alan

Dr. Alan Gordon is a well known Edmonton psychiatrist who has worked for many years in a variety of clinical settings, including Alberta Hospital Edmonton, the University of Alberta Hospital, the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and for 38 years at the Edmonton Mental Health Clinic where he continues to work part time.


He has considerable administrative experience as Medical Director at Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Chief of Psychiatry at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and Regional Clinical Director for the whole of Edmonton.

Rourke, Margaret

Margaret Rourke completed her Doctor of Medicine and psychiatry training at the University of Alberta. During her sixteen years in clinical practice, she worked in Geriatric Psychiatry, private psychotherapy practice as well as a clinical lecturer at the University of Alberta. Since 2018, she has worked on the Mental Health Review Board as the Psychiatrist Member. Her past community volunteer experience includes various roles on the Edmonton Academy Parent Council Executive and the University of Alberta Steadward Centre Fundraising Committee.

Butler, Patricia

Patricia Butler has a Bachelor of Education, a continuing education certificate in office career training and a digital publishing diploma. She is a member of the Mental Health Review Panel and a substitute teacher.


Patricia has volunteered with 4-H and was a director of the Alberta Cattle Breeders Association. She is the treasurer for the Clearwater County Taxpayers Association and an alternate member of the Clearwater County Development/Subdivision/Environmental Review Appeal Board.

Tanguay, Karen

Dr. Karen Tanguay is a Consultant Psychiatrist who has practiced in the Calgary Community in various capacities including The Operational Stress Injury Clinic; Eastside Family Centre; Mount Royal University Health Services; S.A.I.T., Arnika Centre; Alberta Mental Health as well as Community private practice. She is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine where she teaches Communication Skills, Ethics, Well Physician and Interdisciplinary Skills to the medical students and Psychiatric Practice to Family Medicine and Psychiatry Residents.


Karen completed her Psychiatric Residency, Medical School and Masters of Medical Science at the University of Calgary. Her BSc. (Hons) is from the University of Edinburgh where she grew up.
