Vavrek, Vincent
Vincent Vavrek’s current role as partner at Fletcher Mudryk LLP is complemented by his extensive experience in accounting, financial planning and management. Coupled with his extensive background in leadership roles and policy development, Vincent brings almost 15 years of governance experience to AGLC’s board with roles ranging from founding director to public member. Vincent’s commitment to community has bolstered countless organizations both in his hometown of Grande Prairie and across the province, he brings a passion for volunteerism and investing in a well-rounded community to AGLC’s Board. Vincent holds an ICD.D and has also served as director on the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Alberta Board, Alberta Blue Cross, Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta, Institute of Estate and Financial Planners, Grande Prairie Regional College Alumni Association, Grande Prairie Regional College Foundation, Grande Prairie Regional College Board of Governors, Grande Prairie District Chamber of Commerce, After 5 Rotary Club of Grande Prairie, Real Estate Training Institute of Northern Alberta, Alberta, and as the St. Joseph’s Parish Finance Committee Electric System Operator (AESO).
Weissenberger, Angela Tu
With 25 years of experience in financial services, energy and industrials, Angela Tu Weissenberger brings significant knowledge of risk management and market assessment to AGLC’s Board. While Angela has an impressive decade of governance experience on her own resume, she is also an advocate, connector and thought leader who empowers other women to explore the world of governance for themselves. Angela also shares her strategic planning and innovation as a guest speaker and lecturer for industry and for educational institutions. Angela holds a BA and MA in economics, and ICD.D. She has previously served as a director on the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC), Esther Honens International Piano Competition Foundation, and the Treasury Board of Canada: Advisory Committee on Executive Level Retention and Compensation.
Zhang, TJ
Tongjie (TJ) Zhang brings a cybersecurity and privacy lens to AGLC’s Board. TJ’s technical experience spans multiple industries including research and development, as well as consulting. Outside of his profession, he strives to be an active community leader. He remains a committed alumni for the University of Calgary and in 2017 was elected as senator for the university. TJ’s enthusiasm for community service is showcased by his involvement in professional associations, educational institutions and many non-profit organizations. TJ holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Calgary, and has previously served as a director on the following organizations: Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (Alberta), Livery Transport Advisory Committee (LTAC) of the City of Calgary Council, University of Calgary Graduate Students’ Association, Alberta Graduate Council, The Campus Trust, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Calgary Chapter, and the Calgary Security Professionals Information Exchange Society (SPIE).
Grier, Patti
Ms. Grier has been a member of the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) Board of Director since January 2017. She brings vast experience from being a member of over twenty boards and committees, and over forty years of public and private sector experience.
With an extensive tenure at the executive level of both private and public organizations, Ms. Grier’s unique experience as both leader and tactician in board governance, administrative justice, communications, stakeholder engagement, philanthropy and a range of corporate services brings a multi-faceted perspective to AGLC’s board. Ms. Grier has served on numerous not-for-profit and crown corporation boards and is committed to the principles of good governance and administrative justice. She also has an Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D).
Fujino, Jack
Jack Fujino brings over four decades of experience in engineering, large project management and corporate management to AGLC’s Board. As senior vice-president of Stantec’s environmental group, Jack assessed, coordinated and developed projects from not only an engineering and environmental perspective, but also from an operational and financial auditing perspective. With a well-rounded professional tenure in feasibility, acquisitions and operations, Jack adds his diverse experience to his role as a member of AGLC’s Board. Jack holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and has previously served as a director on the Alberta Chamber of Resources, Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems, and Consulting Engineers of Alberta.
Drysdale, Wayne
Wayne Drysdale has over 20 years of government experience with an emphasis on strategic planning and public policy. Wayne previously served as Grande Prairie-Wapiti’s Member of the Legislative Assembly, Alberta’s Minister of Infrastructure and Minister of Transportation.
He has extensive community involvement experience including serving as vice-chair and founding member of the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Medical Service, Community Futures Grande Prairie & Region and Grande Spirit Foundation.

Mr. Larry Spagnolo is the Vice President and General Manager of Emerson Zedi Cloud SCADA Solutions. Prior to, he served as Chief Commercial Officer and President of Zedi US with Zedi Inc., and held several leadership positions with TELUS and Sony Canada. He is currently a board member of uDigit Systems and a former member of the Board of Governors of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s School of Business, MacEwan University, Rotman School of Management-University of Toronto, and York University, with studies in business and administration.

Garett has been in the Oil & Gas Industry for 40 years. He started his first business 35 years ago and has 2 businesses today, a commercial property company and a manufacturing company. He is President of Red Deer based, GenTex Industries Inc. a design, manufacturing, service & parts facility for truck, trailer, and skid mounted equipment for the domestic and international market. Born in Red Deer and raised in the County, Garett and his wife live on a small hobby farm just west of the city. He has volunteered in many events, from political (municipal, provincial, federal) campaigns & elections to various community fundraising events. Over the last 25+ years, he has used his experience committing many hours to many worthy charities and institutions. Garett continues to promote Alberta and Red Deer as a great place to do business and raise a family.
