Benoit, Daniel

Daniel Benoit holds a Diploma in Electronics Engineering from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. He currently works in the oil and gas industry at a private upstream company. He is currently the Vice President of Membership for a provincial political party.

Betts, Angela

Angela Betts holds credentials in Compassionate Inquiry, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychological Safety and Family Peer Support Mentor designation with Peer Support Canada. She works in the field of Mental Health and Trauma Support and aids individuals in goal setting, learning and applying cognitive therapy practices, mentorship, education, peer support and asset building. Angela finds balance with hope, connection and compassion.

Byron, Mila

Mila Byron holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy with Honours from McGill University. She went on to complete a baccalaureate of laws at the University of Ottawa and currently practices law in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Mila enjoys reading and writing and spending time with her family, including her four beloved dogs.


Henderson, Hamish

Hamish Henderson has conducted Law in Alberta for 38 years. He is extensively involved in mediations and Collaborative Family Law Process. Hamish has been a member of Legal Aid Appeal Boards, a Chair of the Insurance Councils Appeal Board, Education Conduct and Competency Tribunal, and is a Child Support Resolution Officer. He is a part-time Adjudicator with Alberta Correctional Services. Hamish believes strongly in relationship building and being a team player, as well ensuring a collaborative, fair and balanced approach to problem-solving.

Jones, Mark

Mark Jones worked 36 years as both a teacher and an administrator. He received his education from University of Calgary and completed his Masters at the University of Oregon. Over his career Mark helped design a new elementary school and opened Mattie McCullough as its first principal. Mark helped build the Tennis Dome in Red Deer and spearheaded the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre. Mark has served as chair on various boards and associations and held positions on sports clubs. His favourite time is spent with his wife and four children.

Lickacz, Wendy

Wendy Lickacz holds a Master of Arts in Human Security and Peacebuilding, Bachelor of Social Work and certified international trade designation. She is a human relations professional, educator, community builder, and retired as a federal public servant in 2015. Wendy has held appointed positions on the provincial Mental Health Review Panel, Public Health Appeal Board and Funeral Services Regulatory Board. She has served on various City of Edmonton boards. Wendy is a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Edmonton. Wendy enjoys the great outdoors.

Thompson, Caroline

Caroline Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations is both Finance and Marketing from the State University of New York College at Fredonia. Caroline is the Director of Philanthropy for the University Hospital Foundation. Active in her community, Caroline volunteered on school council boards, recreational and community sport leagues, constituency associations, and a board position with the Edmonton Youth Justice Community Society. Caroline holds memberships in philanthropy and fundraising associations.

Tiamiyu, Tony

Tony Tiamiyu holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Alberta and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Winnipeg. Tony started his career in 1984 as a Probation Officer in Wetaskiwin. In 1986, he transferred to the Young Offender system and became a Youth Worker working with youth ages 12-18 years. He returned to community corrections as a probation/parole officer. Tony has held positions on school councils and is a soccer referee. He is retired and resides in Edmonton with his wife.

Wilcox, Elizabeth

Elizabeth Wilcox has an LL.B. from the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta. She practiced law in Edmonton and was engaged in legal research and writing for many years. Currently, she is a Director with the Government of Alberta in the Department of Transportation and Economic Corridors. Elizabeth became active in education as her children grew, serving as a board member and volunteer in the francophone schools her children attended. Elizabeth is a member of Alberta's Certification Appeal Committee and the Law Society of Alberta

Walsh, Todd

Todd Walsh is a Chief Administrative Officer and provides strategic leadership for independent programs. Todd has extensive board experience and provides oversight for a not-for-profit organization. Todd's commitment to volunteer service has been acknowledged by his numerous awards including the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers. Todd holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Education. Todd promotes inclusivity, accessibility, and excellence with his community.

Axelsen, Leanne

Leanne Axelsen is a Education Consultant working with Family Solutions Group to bring Mental Health programming to children. Leanne was elected to WRPS Board in 2017 and 2021. Serving as board member and Vice Chair. As a Trustee she sat on many committees including: Leaders of Tomorrow, Joint City of Wetaskiwin and WRPS Liaison, Council of School Councils Chair, and many other Ad Hoc Committees. She is also a current board member on Wetaskiwin FCSS. Leanne has Business Cert. from TRU, GOA Orientation for Caregivers Cert., The Brain Story Cert.

Bell, Lori

Lori Bell holds a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Alberta. She worked in the education field for 36 years, including as an Executive Director in Alberta Education collaborating with education partners to implement programs to improve education outcomes for First Nations, Métis and Inuit students. Lori has board and committee experience with the Downtown Edmonton Community League. She is a recent recipient of the Premier’s Public Service Award for Service Delivery Innovation for Albertans with Learning Disruptions.

Bouma, David

David Bouma is currently retired after serving as teacher, university instructor, principal, and superintendent across learning environments which include elementary, junior and senior high school and post-secondary. He is currently a panel member of the Alberta Teaching Profession Commission as well as the managing director of an educational consulting firm. David holds a Bachelor of Physical Education, Bachelor of Education, and Master of Education from the University of Alberta.

Claughton, Cathy

Cathy Claughton has extensive leadership experience providing governance support and strategic guidance to several complex quasi-judicial tribunals including: the Appeals Commission for Alberta Workers' Compensation, the Medical Panels Office, and the Appeals Secretariat. She is currently Board Chair of the Foundation of Administrative Justice, and a Director on the Board of Operation Friendship Seniors Society. Cathy has completed a master’s degree in health administration and is an Executive Coach and Change Management Specialist.

Gautama, Tina

Tina Gautama is a consultant currently employed with Alberta Health Services. She is a social worker who has previously worked in a provincial children’s autism assessment unit and in a child maltreatment medical assessment clinic providing education, assessment and support to clients and their families. She has completed a master’s degree in social work and master’s degree in public administration. She also has certification in diversity and inclusion, as well as in Indigenous consultation and engagement.

Huot, Darcey

For the last 27 years, Darcey has been part of a team of professionals and programs with the focus on developing and implementing service plans that enhance the lives of children, families and communities. Darcey has worked as both an early childhood educator and a therapeutic assistant for students with high behavioural needs, and has previously served on both the Attendance Board and as a committee member on advisory committees that are working towards enhancing community supports.

McCorkell, Tammy

Tammy McCorkell is the Executive Director of a Provincial Harm Reduction Agency. The role furthers her work with strategic direction, governance and advocacy for vulnerable populations. As a CPHR, she specializes in corporate training and strength based leadership development. She has spent the last decade working within the Justice System, providing training to quasi-judicial boards in areas such as leadership, conflict resolution, administrative law, natural justice and the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She has extensive experience in community development, crime prevention, sentence adjudication, interpreting policy and legislation as well as program development and facilitation. Tammy has previously served on the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) and Income Support Appeals Boards. She currently sits on the City of Calgary’s Assessment Review Board and on the Council of the College of Alberta Denturists Regulatory Board. She is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) and holds a Degree in Communication and Culture (BCC) from the University of Calgary.

O'Hara, Michael

Michael has been an educator and school principal in Alberta for more than 40 years. Michael has held a variety of leadership roles focused on capacity building and learning for teachers and school leaders over the course of his career. He is passionate supporting students to improve student attendance and outcomes, and to facilitate positive relationships between students, their schools, and their communities.

Onuoha, Dumebi

Dumebi Onuoha is a public servant who works with the Government of Alberta, providing contract and project support to deliver evidence-based services to children, youth, and their families. Dumebi serves as an alternate member on her local Intermunicipal Subdivision Appeal Board, conducting hearings on municipal subdivision and development decisions. Dumebi holds a bachelor’s degree in health sciences, a postgraduate diploma in Mental Health and Addictions and is completing her Master of Public Administration.

Patterson, Cheryl

Cheryl Patterson is a human services professional responsible for the development, management and evaluation of program operations and services for children and youth affected by abuse and violence. Cheryl has experience serving on various committees, including the AHS South Zone Ethics Committee and is certified in Trauma-Informed Care and Violence Threat Risk Assessment. Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Professional Arts in Human Services and is pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Leadership.

Pollom-Smith, Kiana

Kiana Pollom-Smith is a Student Border Security Officer. Kiana's committee experiences include the Town of Strathmore's Joint Work Health and Safety Committee, the Culture Committee, the Steering Committee for the Wheatland Youth Network, the Interagency Committee, and the 5 for Life Coalition. Kiana is the Chair of the Addiction Resource Coalition of Strathmore and Wheatland County. Kiana has a Diploma in Social Work and is receiving her Bachelor of Social Work.

Reschke, Karen

Karen J. Reschke has practiced law in both Edmonton and Calgary, and was an instructor in the legal studies department at MacEwan University for almost 30 years. She taught in the area of ethics and administrative law, as well on a variety of other legal topics. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree, a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies. In addition, she has served on a regulatory board under the Health Professions Act and currently is the accompanist for a local children’s choir.

Baier, Ron

Ron Baier holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Alberta and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Administration from Gonzaga University. Ron has a history of excellence in education at many levels including as a teacher, coach, principal, and as a school board trustee. Ron has served on many boards and organizations. Ron recently retired from public education and continues to work with adult foundational learners as the part-time Executive Director for Camrose Adult Learning Council.

Thompson, Kennedy

Kennedy Thompson holds an LLB and practises as an Immigration Consultant. He has extensive experience in administrative law and the principles governing boards. He holds certifications from SAIT, Bow Valley College, and the University of Calgary. He served as a Founding Director and later President of the Cooperative ESL-Ministries, an organization that assists new Canadians with English as a Second Language. Kennedy currently serves on the Board of the African Cancer Foundation and the Oladele Foundation.

Vandenhoek, Marvin

Marvin Vandenhoek holds a combined degree in Science and Science Education, as well as a Master of Counselling degree from the University of Lethbridge. Marvin served as a full-time teacher for 16 years, and a school counsellor for the last six of those years. He currently runs a private counselling practice, specializing in Animal Assisted Therapy. Marvin has dedicated much of his life to supporting at-risk youth.
