Armstrong, James
Dr. James Armstrong has many years of diverse environmental and hydrogeologic experience, including direct project experience in all phases of contaminated site assessment and remediation, groundwater resource evaluation and permitting to support hydraulic fracturing, well installations, groundwater flow modeling, groundwater-surface water interactions and water well complaints and stakeholder disputes. He has a Master of Science (Hydrogeology) and his PhD focussed on assessing natural attenuation of hydrocarbons at upstream oil and gas sites.
Lacasse, Line
Line Lacasse is a lawyer with over 25 years experience advising clients on regulatory, environmental, administrative and indigenous matters. Line worked in private practice, as Board Counsel for the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board and in-house for a large resource company. Line was appointed to the Land and Property Rights Tribunal in 2017 and to the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board and the Public Lands Appeal Board in 2018. She holds a civil law degree from University of Montreal and a common law degree from McGill University.
Powter, Chris
Chris Powter is the owner of Enviro Q&A Services, an environmental consulting firm providing advice and guidance to the resource industry and government regulators since 2015. Mr. Powter worked at the University of Alberta from 2010 to 2014 and Alberta Environment from 1981 to 2010. Mr. Powter's areas of expertise include land reclamation and provincial environmental policy and legislation. Mr. Powter has a B.Sc. in Ecology and a M.Sc. in Plant Ecology from the University of Guelph. Mr. Powter has been a Board member since 2018.
Averill, Kurtis
Kurtis Averill holds a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta’s Environmental and Conservation Science program, specializing in Land Remediation and Reclamation. He works at the intersection where energy development meets rural communities and the natural environment. He has over 20 years of experience in the natural gas and oil industry, in project development at all phases. Kurtis is the Manager of Stakeholder Relations, Surface Land and Closure for a medium sized Alberta-based energy producer.
McLauchlin, Paul
Paul McLauchlin is a Sr Aboriginal Advisor/Sr Biologist with Environmental Leadership Matters. He has been the Reeve of Ponoka County since 2013. He is the Director of the Rural Municipalities of Alberta, Chair of Rimoka Foundation, & Chair of Battle Lake Synergy Group. He holds a MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from the UofC. He is a Chartered Manager and earned his certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute of the UK.
Rippin Armstrong, Allison
With more than 25 years experience in regulatory processes and environmental compliance, Ms. Rippin Armstrong has worked with government, Indigenous organizations, regulatory agencies and resource companies, through her work with the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Chambers of Mines, and the Yukon Women in Mining board.
Quarshie, Elizabeth
Elizabeth (Liz) Quarshie has over 30 years expertise in energy, environment, land use and industrial development. She has extensive experience in construction and operation of pipelines, environmental monitoring, process safety and environmental management systems including audits. Liz is a professional geoscientist with a MBA, an MSc in Environmental Engineering, and BSc in biological sciences. She has extensive board governance experience as a former Vice Chair of the Appeals Commission, Alberta Workers' Compensation Board.
Johnston, Barbara
Barbara Johnston holds a B.Comm. (Accounting) from the University of Calgary and a LL.B. from the University of Alberta. She has provided legal and business advice, and educational services to numerous client groups as in-house counsel for a large integrated resource company, as well as audit financial preparation services for diverse client groups at a large public accounting firm. She has expertise in risk management, consumer banking transactions, debt financing, asset acquisition and divestiture.
Aalbers, Angela
Angela Aalbers is currently the county councillor for Mountain View County. Angela has international experience in the energy industry having worked for Shell in Europe (Netherlands) and Africa (Nigeria, Niger and Gabon) in executive roles. Angela has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Calgary as well as a Level 1 certificate in Local Authority Administration (NACLAA) from the University of Alberta.
Deibert, Lee
Lee Deibert is a professional geoscientist with over 30 years of experience in the environmental consulting sector, based in Alberta. He has a B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia and an M.Sc. from Queen's University and is a registered member of APEGA, APEGBC, and APEGS. Technical experience includes all aspects of contaminated site assessment and remediation including, soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater assessments, remediation, risk management, liability assessments and site closures.
Fawcett, Kyle
Kyle Fawcett is an executive leader across the public, non-profit, and private sectors. As a former elected representative, and the current Chief External Relations Officer with Silvera and Co-founder of SunAlta Power, Kyle works with community and commercial partners to build strong communities. Kyle was named Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine in 2012 and is Chair of the RiverWatch Institute of Alberta. Kyle has a MBA from the University of Alberta and B.A. in political science and applied energy economics from the University of Calgary.
Riddell, Jo-Ann
Jo-Ann Riddell is a non-practicing lawyer with the Law Society of Alberta in the City of Calgary. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (English) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta and a Masters of Law from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. She began her legal career in Oil & Gas Law with a focus on Title Review first at law firms and later as an independent contract lawyer. Jo-Ann ended her legal career as a Real Estate Lawyer and now owns Pivot Properties Ltd. a restoration and property holding company.
