Paulson, Kyle

Mr. Kyle Paulson has been on The Board of Governors of Northern Lakes College since November 2020. He has been with Recreation Services at Northern Lakes College for almost 40 years, working as a Student Wellness Facilitator and Recreation Facilitator and Coordinator. He is also a Senior Lifeguard at the Town of Slave Lake and a volunteer firefighter with the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Fire Service. Mr. Paulson has a diploma in Recreation Technology from the Kelsey Institute.

Ghostkeeper, Darrell

Darrell Ghostkeeper is the Public Works and Housing Manager with the Lubicon Lake Band #453. Prior, he was the Aboriginal Liaison with Grizzly E&I and Schroders Oilfield Services and was the Chief Executive Officer of Pipestone Consulting. He was elected as the Vice President of Region 5 Council of the Metis Nation of Alberta and the Aboriginal Liaison with Willbros Canada. He has previously taken Power Engineer trade courses at Northern Lakes College.

Hatch, Barb

Barb Hatch is the Adult Learning Coordinator with the Valleyview Adult Learning Council, where she teaches a variety of essential skills including reading, numeracy, money management, and English as a Second Language.

Labrecque, Lucille

Lucille Labrecque is a Mental Health Promotion Facilitator with Alberta Health Services in High Level. She volunteers with the High Level Community Education Committee at Northern Lakes College and was a past director and chair of the Mackenzie County Library Board, the Fort Vermilion and Area Board of Trade and the Chinchaga Adult Learning Council. She holds a Bachelor of Management degree from the University of Lethbridge, a Business Administration diploma from Grande Prairie Regional College, and an Early Learning and Child Care Certificate from Northern Lakes College.

Ward, Treena

Treena Ward is a Social Worker/Families First Home Visitor Advocate with Alberta Health Services. Prior, she was an Income Property Manager with Mackenzie Housing and a Child Development Program Instructor at Grande Prairie Regional College. She is a Registered Social Worker and holds an Associate Degree in Child Development and Special Education from Nova Scotia Teachers College.

Daniels, Lana

Ms. Lana Daniels is Co-Owner of M & M Logging Inc. in Slave Lake. She has volunteered with Slave Lake Minor Hockey Association, Animal Rescue Committee of Slave Lake, and the Slave Lake Legion. She holds a trade certificate in the Cook trade.

El-Sharkawi, Bady

Mr. Bady (Barry) El-Sharkawi has been the Chair of The Board of Governors of Northern Lakes College since April 2022. Mr. El-Sharkawi is the owner and operator of Amiro’s Steakhouse in High Prairie and a former member of the High Prairie Town Council. He is also the President of the High Prairie and Area Chamber of Commerce. He has significant board governance and board leadership experience, having served as Chair of the Lesser Slave Lake Economic Alliance as well as several other community boards.

Suderman, Adele

Ms. Adele Suderman is currently enrolled in the Academic Upgrading Program at Northern Lakes College. She was recently re-elected as a student representative to the Northern Lakes College Student’s Association for the 2024/25 academic year. Ms. Suderman is a School Bus Driver with Golden Arrow Transportation. Prior to that, she was a Service Writer and Shop Manager with JDA Oilfield and an Automotive Service Writer & Shop Manager with Canadian Tire. May 2024

Durdle, Leanna

Leanna C. Durdle is an early-career post-secondary educator with an interdisciplinary background in humanities and social sciences. She currently teaches undergraduate English and communications courses at Northern Lakes College, drawing on critical and constructivist approaches to center student experience and promote adult education as a vehicle for civic and global development. Her research interests include cultural studies, critical discourse analysis, postcolonial theory, and the global dynamics of education, with recent work examining the symbolic role of Western teachers in Thai education con-texts. Leanna holds an MA in Communication and Culture from York University and To-ronto Metropolitan University, and a BA (Hons.) in Social Development Studies from the University of Waterloo.

Harding, Terry-Lynn

Terry-Lynn Harding is a dedicated mature student currently pursuing Academic Upgrading at Northern Lakes College, where she consistently maintains a 90%+ average. With a diverse background in animal care, retail, and security, Terry-Lynn brings a dynamic and personable approach to every role she undertakes. Her experience includes working with rescue animals, providing customer education in the cannabis industry, and ensuring safety in daycare and security settings. Passionate about lifelong learning and personal growth, she is committed to contributing her skills and open-minded perspective to the NLCSA Board of Governors

Ledger, Vanessa

Ms. Vanessa Ledger is a committed lifelong learner currently enrolled in University Studies at Northern Lakes College, with plans to pursue Business Administration in 2025. With over a decade of experience in retail leadership—including roles at Peace Country Co-op, Walmart, and Canadian Tire—Vanessa brings strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills to the NLCSA Board. Her background includes team training, customer service, and departmental management, complemented by leadership experience gained through cadet programs. Vanessa is eager to transition into new opportunities and contribute her practical knowledge and collaborative spirit to the post-secondary community.
