Ceroici, Walter

Walter Ceroici has experience with the NRCB's quasi-judicial processes and has led policy development in several environmental areas, including risk management and environmental site assessments. Walter was involved in numerous provincial and federal committees charged with development of environmental guidelines for soil and water quality. Walter has a Master of Science degree from the University of Waterloo in Earth Sciences and is a Life Member of APEGA.

Smith, Richard

Rich Smith is an agricultural engineer with over 40 years experience in the public and private sector working on resource management, strategic planning, and board governance for livestock producers and producer organizations. Rich is a member of the Board of Directors of the Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA) and Ag for Life, and is a member of the NRCB/AOPA Technical Advisory Group (TAG). Rich is a Professional Engineer who holds a BSc. and MSc. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Alberta.

Stepaniuk, Darin

Darin Stepaniuk has worked in the legal and resource management fields for over 30 years and served as the Director of the Environmental Law Section of Alberta Justice and Solicitor General from 2009 to 2018. He received his King's Counsel designation in 2020. His extensive experience includes private law practice, work in the mining sector, post-secondary teaching, and representation of clients before public interest tribunals. Darin received his law degree and M.Sc. (renewable wildlife and rangeland resources) at the University of Alberta.

Roberts, Sandi

Sandi Roberts has been a part-time NRCB board member since 2020 and was an acting board member from 2017 to 2020. She was an approval officer with the NRCB from 2002 to 2010. Sandi served as town councillor for Carstairs from 2010 to 2017, acting as chair or as a member on numerous committees including Policy and Governance, Municipal Development and the Municipal Planning Commission. She currently is a board member for an Assessment Review Board and for an Intermunicipal SDAB. Sandi holds a B.Sc. in agricultural engineering and is a P.Eng.

Dunham, Laura

Laura Dunham is a lawyer with significant public sector experience having worked for both the Federal Government and the City of Edmonton. Laura is a member of the Land and Property Rights Tribunal, a quasi-judicial tribunal that makes decisions on surface rights, expropriation, land planning, development, and tax assessments. Laura has a B.A. (First Class Honours) and M.A. in political science, as well as an LL.B., and was awarded the University of Calgary Law School Silver Medal.

Heaney, Daniel

Daniel Heaney works as a consultant in sustainable agriculture. His board service includes NRCB, Prairie Certified Crop Advisors (CCA), Norwest Labs, and BioVision Labs. Dan served as Hearing Director for the Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA). A PAg and CCA, he holds practice permits in Crop Production; GHG Management; and Manure Management; as well as 4R Nutrient Management designation. He received a Professional Recognition Award from AIA and a Bronze Premier's Award (Ethylene Crop Research). Dan holds a Ph.D. (Soil Science) from U of A.

Graham, Earl

Earl served on Clearwater County Council for 13 years, eight years as Deputy Reeve, and three years on RMA Board of Directors for District Two. For over 40 years, Earl has owned and operated several businesses. He was founding Chair of the Red Deer Watershed Alliance, and is currently a public member on the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta and two Subdivision Appeal Boards. Locally, he chairs the Caroline Ambulance Board and the Caroline Museum and is Vice Chair of the Chamber of Commerce.
