Baier, Ron
Ron Baier holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Alberta and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Administration from Gonzaga University. Ron has a history of excellence in education at many levels including as a teacher, coach, principal, and as a school board trustee. Ron has served on many boards and organizations. Ron recently retired from public education and continues to work with adult foundational learners as the part-time Executive Director for Camrose Adult Learning Council.
Ezike-Dennis, Emeka
Chukwuemeka Ezike-Dennis is a lawyer with over 20 years of experience in legal practice and business management. He volunteers with Mothers and Mentors Canada, a not-for-profit dedicated to youth empowerment in Alberta. He is proficient in implementing governance processes and regulatory compliance. Emeka holds a Chattered Director designation from Degroot School of Business, Mcmaster University. He also holds a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Law from University of Benin, Nigeria, and University of South Africa respectively.
Gauthier, Monique
Monique Gauthier was raised in a northern rural community but opted to seek a post-secondary education in larger urban centers. Her post-secondary pursuits included linguistics, translations, accounting, and education. She had various roles within the education system and believes achieving balance in education requires the cooperation and support of family, community, and government. She is passionate about outreach and has served on several community Boards and youth organizations.
Johnson, Linda
Linda Johnson holds a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Mary’s University, Halifax, NS. She is semi-retired, most recently working with Alberta Cancer Foundation and CKUA. Linda is an active literacy champion as a past board member of the CanLearn Society of Calgary; and continues to volunteer with Centre for Family Literacy Edmonton and the Further Education Society of Alberta. Linda served as the MLA for Calgary-Glenmore 2012-2015. Linda is an advocate for the development of essential literacy skills.
McKay, David
Dave McKay has been an active community volunteer, working with groups and committees focused on ensuring youth have the supports that they need. He volunteered with Edmonton minor hockey for over ten years as a coach and manager and has also participated in school focus groups and with various school activities. Dave recently retired from a long career with the Alberta public service and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) from the University of Alberta.
Taylor, Wes
The highlight of Wes’s career was serving his community and province as the MLA for Battle River - Wainwright. He brought a wealth of diverse experiences to this position including, being a teacher, an entrepreneur, a small business owner, and a Journeyman Baker. He holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. He has actively served his community as a Rotary Member, a volunteer firefighter, and held various non-profit board positions. He continues to be actively involved in his local community.
Thompson, Kennedy
Kennedy Thompson holds an LLB and practises as an Immigration Consultant. He has extensive experience in administrative law and the principles governing boards. He holds certifications from SAIT, Bow Valley College, and the University of Calgary. He served as a Founding Director and later President of the Cooperative ESL-Ministries, an organization that assists new Canadians with English as a Second Language. Kennedy currently serves on the Board of the African Cancer Foundation and the Oladele Foundation.
Vandenhoek, Marvin
Marvin Vandenhoek holds a combined degree in Science and Science Education, as well as a Master of Counselling degree from the University of Lethbridge. Marvin served as a full-time teacher for 16 years, and a school counsellor for the last six of those years. He currently runs a private counselling practice, specializing in Animal Assisted Therapy. Marvin has dedicated much of his life to supporting at-risk youth.
Benoit, Daniel
Daniel Benoit holds a Diploma in Electronics Engineering from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. He currently works in the oil and gas industry at a private upstream company. He is currently the Vice President of Membership for a provincial political party.
Betts, Angela
Angela Betts holds credentials in Compassionate Inquiry, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychological Safety and Family Peer Support Mentor designation with Peer Support Canada. She works in the field of Mental Health and Trauma Support and aids individuals in goal setting, learning and applying cognitive therapy practices, mentorship, education, peer support and asset building. Angela finds balance with hope, connection and compassion.
Byron, Mila
Mila Byron holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy with Honours from McGill University. She went on to complete a baccalaureate of laws at the University of Ottawa and currently practices law in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Mila enjoys reading and writing and spending time with her family, including her four beloved dogs.
Henderson, Hamish
Hamish Henderson has conducted Law in Alberta for 38 years. He is extensively involved in mediations and Collaborative Family Law Process. Hamish has been a member of Legal Aid Appeal Boards, a Chair of the Insurance Councils Appeal Board, Education Conduct and Competency Tribunal, and is a Child Support Resolution Officer. He is a part-time Adjudicator with Alberta Correctional Services. Hamish believes strongly in relationship building and being a team player, as well ensuring a collaborative, fair and balanced approach to problem-solving.
Jones, Mark
Mark Jones worked 36 years as both a teacher and an administrator. He received his education from University of Calgary and completed his Masters at the University of Oregon. Over his career Mark helped design a new elementary school and opened Mattie McCullough as its first principal. Mark helped build the Tennis Dome in Red Deer and spearheaded the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre. Mark has served as chair on various boards and associations and held positions on sports clubs. His favourite time is spent with his wife and four children.
Lickacz, Wendy
Wendy Lickacz holds a Master of Arts in Human Security and Peacebuilding, Bachelor of Social Work and certified international trade designation. She is a human relations professional, educator, community builder, and retired as a federal public servant in 2015. Wendy has held appointed positions on the provincial Mental Health Review Panel, Public Health Appeal Board and Funeral Services Regulatory Board. She has served on various City of Edmonton boards. Wendy is a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Edmonton. Wendy enjoys the great outdoors.
Thompson, Caroline
Caroline Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations is both Finance and Marketing from the State University of New York College at Fredonia. Caroline is the Director of Philanthropy for the University Hospital Foundation. Active in her community, Caroline volunteered on school council boards, recreational and community sport leagues, constituency associations, and a board position with the Edmonton Youth Justice Community Society. Caroline holds memberships in philanthropy and fundraising associations.
Tiamiyu, Tony
Tony Tiamiyu holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Alberta and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Winnipeg. Tony started his career in 1984 as a Probation Officer in Wetaskiwin. In 1986, he transferred to the Young Offender system and became a Youth Worker working with youth ages 12-18 years. He returned to community corrections as a probation/parole officer. Tony has held positions on school councils and is a soccer referee. He is retired and resides in Edmonton with his wife.
Wilcox, Elizabeth
Elizabeth Wilcox has an LL.B. from the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta. She practiced law in Edmonton and was engaged in legal research and writing for many years. Currently, she is a Director with the Government of Alberta in the Department of Transportation and Economic Corridors. Elizabeth became active in education as her children grew, serving as a board member and volunteer in the francophone schools her children attended. Elizabeth is a member of Alberta's Certification Appeal Committee and the Law Society of Alberta
Cavanagh, Dan
Dan Cavanagh holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Portland and Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Alberta. He holds a Commercial Pilot’s License. Dan received the Provincial Excellence in Teaching Award from the Minister of Education, The Greater Edmonton Regional Council of School Administrators Principal of the Year Award and was recognized as establishing one of Canada’s Top 40 Schools by Today’s Parent's Magazine. Dan is a former Director of the National Assoc. of Career Colleges.
Walsh, Todd
Todd Walsh is a Chief Administrative Officer and provides strategic leadership for independent programs. Todd has extensive board experience and provides oversight for a not-for-profit organization. Todd's commitment to volunteer service has been acknowledged by his numerous awards including the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers. Todd holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Education. Todd promotes inclusivity, accessibility, and excellence with his community.
