Okeke-Ihejirika, Philomina
Dr. Philomena Okeke-Ihejirika is a full professor in the Women's and Gender Studies Department at the University of Alberta. She is actively involved in community building as a resource person to many community organizations, service providers, and public agencies, and has served on the senate of King's University College. She is a former member of the Women's Advocacy Voice of Edmonton. She has earned many academic, professional, and community awards locally and in international circles. She earned her Ph.D. in Education from Dalhousie University. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Economics, a Master of Education degree in Educational Management, and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.

Mr. Ebenezer Asare is a pharmacist and owner of two Shoppers Drug Mart locations, one in Brooks and one in Medicine Hat. He is a former instructor from Bredin Centre for Learning, where he instructed foreign-trained pharmacists. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana and completed the International Pharmacy Bridging Program at Bredin Institute. He is currently enrolled in the University of Calgary Executive MBA program.
Competencies required for members of The Board of Governors of Medicine Hat College include the core competencies of leadership and governance and the preferred competencies of finance, human resources, legal, risk management, and/or strategic planning. Mr. Asare was directly appointed based on meeting the competencies, skills, and attributes as described above.

Mr. Ali Rakka is a Career Advisor and Personal Development Coach at Columbia College and is a certified Career Development Professional. He currently serves as a member on the Premier’s Council on Multiculturalism. He holds a Human Services Professional diploma (with Distinction) from Columbia College and a certificate specializing in Career and Academic Advising from the University of Calgary.
Competencies required for members of the senate of The University of Calgary include relationship building and community partnerships. Mr. Rakka was directly appointed on the basis of meeting these competencies as described above.
