Chiu, Wayne

Wayne Chiu is the founder and CEO of Trico Homes and Chairman of the Trico Charitable Foundation, which he founded with his wife to combine their passion for social entrepreneurship with their desire to make a social impact. His support and commitment to numerous community/charitable organizations is extensive and he has served on various community boards. Mr. Chiu has been recognized for his business and community accomplishments through various provincial and national honours, including being named a Member of the Order of Canada and a Member of the Alberta Order of Excellence.

Christie, Chris

Ms. Christie recently retired from a 40-year career, most recently as Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta. Her work with the YMCA and McMan Community Services was with at-risk youth and vulnerable populations. Her board experience includes the Medicine Hat Hospice Committee, Southeast Alberta Service Providers Network and Community Council on Homelessness. She holds a degree in social development from the University of Waterloo and a diploma in recreational administration from Lethbridge Community College.

Lilley, John

Dr. John Lilley is Chair of the YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation and the Misericordia Hospital Philanthropy Committee, as well as a Co-Chair of the Pregnancy Pathways Steering Committee for homeless pregnant women. He is active in the philanthropic and charitable sector in Edmonton and an advocate for transformative change in housing and homelessness. For over a decade, he has been a philanthropy volunteer for the health and social sectors.

Paine, Lori

Ms. Paine holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina. Former Executive Director of Calgary Seniors’ Resource Society (2008 – 2023), she previously held positions with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and SAIT Alumni Relations. Ms. Paine has 30 years experience volunteering on various boards and campaigns, and is the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for work in the seniors’ sector.

Xu, Benny

Dr. Xu is a third-generation Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor and Acupuncturist, practicing since 1993. He is a member of the Alberta Mental Health and Addiction Advisory Council and has served on the boards of various non-profit organizations and associations. Dr. Xu is the founder and Executive Director of the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Huatuo Clinic. He received the Alberta Centennial Medal for his contributions to the development of traditional Chinese medicine and training in Alberta.

Christie, Joel

Dr. Joel Christie has over forty years of direct senior and executive management experience and specializes in the management of strategic change in complex organizations. Dr. Christie has co-authored three books, The Nurturing Leader: A Toolkit for Every Season of Organizational Growth, A Guide to Collaboration: Working Models of Comprehensive Community Projects, and Becoming Real Workbook: Further Along the Authentic Journey. Dr. Christie received the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal (Alberta) for his work in the community and social service sector.

Hassan, Hyder

Hyder Hassan is the CEO of Immigrant Services Calgary, which provides a wide range of settlement services to immigrants and refugees looking to begin their lives in Canada. He is co-founder of Fullsoul Canada, a not-for-profit equipping hospitals in Uganda with medical supplies. Hyder is a member of the Rotary Club of Calgary Fish Creek and Chair of their vocational committee. He hold a Bachelor of Arts, Management Services from the University of Waterloo, a certificate in project management from York University, and a certificate in financial markets from the Yale School of Management.

Lovely, Jackie

Jackie Lovely was elected to the Legislative Assembly representing Camrose on April 16, 2019. She is a member of the Standing Committees on Public Accounts, Families and Communities, Legislative Offices, Privileges and Elections, and Standing Orders and Printing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (University of Saskatchewan), a diploma in hotel/restaurant administration (Saskatchewan Polytechnic) and an MBA (Cape Breton University). Her community involvement includes the Camrose and Leduc chambers of commerce.

O'Neill, Liz

Ms. O’Neill is the executive director of Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area. She is well-known in the non-profit community and has been recognized for her collaboration with other agencies to provide mentoring for youth. She has received the Government of Canada 125 Anniversary Medal, the Alberta Centennial Medal, the Excellence in Community Service Award from the Intercultural Dialogue Institute of Edmonton and was inducted into City of Edmonton’s Community Service Hall of Fame.

Redwood, Kirby

Kirby Redwood is Saulteaux-Cree from Cowessess First Nation. He is the CEO/Lead Oskâpêwis (cultural helper) of Miskanawah Community Services Association, a social service organization offering programs for children, youth and families in Calgary. Kirby holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice (Mount Royal College), a Master of Arts in Leadership (Royal Roads University), and an MBA (Australian Institute of Business). Mr. Redwood has over 30 years of experience working and volunteering in the social services sector, including in the areas of children services, adult education, and justice.

Garrick, Lorette

Ms. Garrick is the CEO of the George Spady Centre Society, a non-profit society providing innovative services to people with complex challenges associated with substance use related disorders and homelessness in Edmonton. Ms. Garrick is a registered Social Worker with the ACSW. She is past Chair of the Alberta Addiction Services Providers, and has served on numerous boards, committees, and task forces focused on addressing homelessness, substance-use related disorders, the opioid crisis, and mental health issues experienced by vulnerable Albertans. She is currently a surveyor for Accreditation Canada, a health standards organization.
