True Joy Fox, Andrea

Andrea True Joy Fox has a drama and visual arts education degree and is an accomplished visual artist. Until a year ago, Andrea was the Principal of Indigenous Education for the Lethbridge school division. She is working on her masters in a joint arts and science faculty program. She has completed her courses, and this winter will work on her thesis on the healing memoirs of Indigenous female artists using digital connection with schools. Andrea has facilitated Indigenous councils and led strategic planning for the Lethbridge school district.

Malik, Nabil

Nabil Malik has a BA Spec. Hons. in Geography & Urban Studies and Certificate in Migration & Refugee Studies. He also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies in the Planning Program and a Graduate Diploma in Democratic Administration. With a reputation as a high-achieving and emerging scholar and professional, Nabil has received multiple prestigious scholarships and awards including the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Master’s Scholarship from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada and funding from the Canadian Polar Commission. He has presented at several notable international conferences and has published his research on sustainability, stakeholder engagement and consultation, immigrant settlement and policy development and implementation. As a Network Member of Arctic-FROST, Nabil is part of an international and interdisciplinary network aiming to mobilize research on sustainable development in the global Polar region. He is also an active volunteer in his community. Currently, he is a Statutory Planner and Development Officer within Northern Alberta. As a planner, Nabil upholds strong ethnical and professional standards as a Candidate Member with the Canadian Institute of Planners and Alberta Professional Planners Institute and as a Member of the Alberta Development Officer’s Association.

Jivraj, Yasmin

Ms. Yasmin Jivraj has served on the board since March 2017 and as chair since August 2022. She is the co-owner of Dexcent, an industrial automation engineering consulting company. She co-founded the company Atlas Systems Group, which then merged with CompCanada to become Acrodex, where she assumed the role of president. She is a board member on numerous boards, including Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Alberta Blue Cross. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science from the University of Alberta and an Honorary Bachelor of Technology in Technology Management degree from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. She is a certified Information Systems Professional, a certified Management Consultant, and is a Fellow in the Canadian Information Processing Society. She is also the recipient of a University of Alberta Alumni Honour Award.
