Goldie, David

David Goldie is a director and independent consultant with over 35 years of experience in the energy industry. 

In addition to being the chair of the board of directors, David Goldie is an ex-officio voting member on the board audit and finance committee, governance committee, human resources, health and safety committee, and regulatory review committee.

Since 2016, Mr. Goldie has led his own consultancy company, Orelian Consulting Ltd., and has supported energy companies in strategic decision-making using decision quality concepts. From 2002 to 2016, he worked as a Vice-President with Encana and then Cenovus in a variety of roles, including exploration, international business development, strategy and planning, refining and marketing, and operations. From 1997-2002 he worked at PanCanadian Petroleum in geophysical, economic analysis, and managerial roles. He began his career with Imperial Oil/Exxon as a geophysicist in Calgary and Houston from 1987-1997.

Mr. Goldie holds a B.Sc. in Geophysics from the University of Waterloo, a MBA from the University of Calgary, is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and holds the designation of ICD, Director (ICD.D.).


Competencies required for members of the Alberta Energy Regulator include: leadership, governance, regulatory, energy sector knowledge, and/or strategic planning. Mr. Goldie was directly recruited and appointed on the basis of meeting the competencies, skills and attributes as described above.

Bryson, Corrina

Corrina Bryson has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry and currently serves on the Boards of the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board and the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission.

In addition to being a board director, Corrina Bryson is the chair of the board audit and finance committee and a voting member on the board governance committee.

Previously, Ms. Bryson led her own consultancy company, Simplify Complexity Inc., providing petroleum engineering and management consulting services to operators and investors. From 2011 to 2016, she worked with CNOOC-Nexen in a variety of roles, including vice president of Resource Development North America. Between 2004 and 2011, Ms. Bryson was a consultant and director with RPS Energy and APA Petroleum Engineering. Ms. Bryson began her career with Shell, working in progressive engineering, project, and business roles from 1994 to 2004 in the Netherlands, the UK, and Canada.

Ms. Bryson graduated from the University of Bradford in England with B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in Chemical Engineering with Management. She is a P.Eng. in Alberta and holds a Masters Certificate of Project Management (MCPM) from the University of Lethbridge. Ms. Bryson is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and holds the designation of ICD, Director (ICD.D.).


Daniels, Jude

Jude Daniels has extensive experience as an oil and gas lawyer, Aboriginal consultation advisor, and has worked in the oil and gas sector since 1998. Ms. Daniels has her own consulting company, which specializes in mediation, employment and regulatory matters.


In addition to being a board director, Jude Daniels is the chair of the board governance committee and a voting member on the board regulatory review committee.


In 2014, she was appointed to the federal Social Security Tribunal – General Division for a two-year term to hear appeals under the Canada Pension Plan Act.


Ms. Daniels was appointed a part-time AER hearing commissioner in 2016 and was reappointed in 2019.


Ms. Daniels has been a board member of the Aquatera Utilities Corp., Calgary 2026 Olympic Bid Corporation, Apeetogosan (Métis) Development Corporation, the Indigenous Bar Association, Spirit North and the Indigenous Bar Association Scholarship Foundation.


She is a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, the Indigenous Bar Association, and the Law Society of Alberta. She lives in Canmore, Alberta with her family and is an active community volunteer.


Habib, Georgette

Ms. Habib has a long record of public service and brings over 30 years of experience in the regulation of the energy industry. Ms. Habib currently serves as an independent corporate director of the Alberta Electric System Operator. Ms. Habib was a full-time board member of the National Energy Board (NEB) from 2006 to 2013, where she adjudicated significant energy applications, including tolls, tariff, pipeline development, market access in the public interest and upstream resource development in Canada's north. She also served on the Board of Governance of the University of Calgary.


In addition to being a board director, Georgette Habib is the chair of the board human resources, health and safety committee and a voting member on the board audit and finance committee.


Between 2015-2019, Ms. Habib led her own consulting company providing consulting service and expert evidence in matters related to economic regulation of energy utilities. She started her career with the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board (the predecessor of the AER) in progressive positions in the field of Economics.


Ms. Habib is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and completed advanced governance education program from the Canadian Board Diversity Council. She holds an M.A. in Economics from the University of Alberta and a B.A. in Mathematics from the American University of Beirut

Leach, Gary

Gary Leach has over 25 years of senior executive level experience in the oil and gas industry, including serving as president of The Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (EPAC). His background in law supports a deep understanding of regulatory issues affecting the energy industry.


In addition to being a board director, Gary Leach is the chair of the board regulatory review committee and a voting member on the board human resources, health and safety committee.


Under his leadership EPAC was a respected voice for Canada's oil and gas industry during a period of disruptive and rapidly changing market conditions. His views were sought on industry issues and trends by local and national media outlets. Mr. Leach regularly engaged with political leaders, policy makers and regulators while serving on industry and government agency boards and panels.


Prior to this, Mr. Leach worked as a senior international executive at a Houston-headquartered Fortune 500 oil services company, and a Canadian NYSE listed international oil production and services company, where he also served on the board of directors. Mr. Leach's responsibilities included establishing new business ventures, negotiating innovative project finance structures with multilateral institutions, and serving on joint venture boards in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.


Mr. Leach was also the founder and partner of a Calgary-based law firm, where his practice focused on providing counsel and advice to clients working in the oil and gas services industry.


He is a graduate of the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan, and holds Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Liberal Arts degrees from that institution.


McCrimmon, Tracey

Tracey McCrimmon has over 25 years of experience working in the Alberta oil and gas industry.


In addition to being a board director, Tracey McCrimmon is a voting member on the board human resources, health and safety committee and governance committee.


Ms. McCrimmon has participated in several synergy stakeholder groups throughout the province and has served as an industry member of the Sundre Petroleum Operators Group (SPOG) since 2006. Prior to leaving the oil and gas industry, she served as Chairman of the Energy Committee for the Southern Alberta Communities Initiative. Her commitment and belief in the values of synergy is what later brought Ms. McCrimmon to SPOG as their Executive Director.


After obtaining her designation in Petroleum Land Management, Ms. McCrimmon's career began in the land industry, where she worked as a surface landman for several years. This led her into fields such as public consultation, aboriginal affairs, and stakeholder engagement.


Rippin Armstrong, Allison

Allison is a biologist and environmental scientist with over 25 years of experience in permitting, regulatory processes and environmental compliance, working with indigenous organizations, resource companies, regulatory agencies, indigenous, territorial, and federal governments.


In addition to being a board director, Allison Rippin Armstrong is a voting member on the board regulatory review committee and human resources, health and safety committee.


Along the way, Allison found that her passion and calling leaned more to the areas of mentorship, advocacy, education, and training. As Compliance Specialist at the Ekati Diamond Mine, Allison was part of the team that lead the mine toward ISO 14001 certification. There she started an Environmental Awareness program that included the formation of an Environment Club, with participation from all departments at the mine site.


Allison is amazed by the incredible opportunities that she has been able to be part of and help create. Highlights include: the development of environmental training modules in partnership with Yukon First Nations and Yukon University, the development of the Regional Wealth Creation Fund, as part of a negotiated Inuit Impact Benefit Agreement with the Kitikmeot Inuit Association in Nunavut, and building a sustainability department at the Karowe Diamond Mine with Lucara Botswana.


Allison has served on the board of Yukon Women in Mining for the past seven years. She is a founding member of the Yukon University Foundation Board and has served on NWT and Nunavut Chambers of Mines as well as a number of working groups for the PDAC. Allison is currently the Chair of the Board of Tectonic Metals Inc.


As an independent consultant Allison has worked in Yukon, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alaska, and Botswana.


Piquette, Kasha

Kasha Piquette serves as a Deputy Minister, Environment and Protected Areas for the Government of Alberta. She was entrusted with leading the work on Alberta Emission Reduction and Energy Development Plan alongside Alberta ESG Secretariat. Kasha Piquette’s over 20 years of international leadership experiences in Banking, Investment Management, Insurance and Capital Markets with special interest in ESG (Environment, Social and Governance), Technology and Innovation have fortified her ability to skillfully navigate complex financial and governance matters. She spent number of years volunteering as a Governor for Canadian Energy Executive Association (CEEA) and variety of other Boards. After graduating from the Warsaw School of Economics, Ms. Piquette completed an International MBA Program and several additional professional designations: CFP Canada, Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM) and is a Fellow of Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA).

In addition to being a board director, Kasha Piquette is a voting member on the board audit and finance committee.


Competencies required for the board directors of the AER include extensive experience in environment and regulatory sectors; senior decision-making experience in complex, multi-disciplinary and collaborative environments; financial experience; business acumen; strong leadership experience; and sound governance experience. Ms. Piquette was directly recruited and appointed on the basis of acceptably meeting the competencies, skills, and attributes as described above.
