Dr. Christine Elzinga obtained her MD from the University of Calgary in 1984 after completing a BA in Psychology from the University of Alberta. She completed a Family Medicine Residency at the Calgary General Hospital in 1986, and then practiced Family Medicine in Calgary until 2008. She then moved to a position as a Clinical Associate physician at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, retiring from clinical medicine in May 2019. Dr. Elzinga was a physician member of the Alberta Mental Health Review Board from June 2016 to January 2020.
Dr. Block was appointed as the interim President and CEO of the NAIT in December 2019. Ray has been a member of NAIT's Executive Committee since 2011 where he serves as VP administration and chief financial officer and executive lead for 5 board committees. During his term as president and CEO of the Alberta Mental Health Board, he received the Alberta Centennial Medal from the Government of Alberta for his contributions to Alberta's health care system.
He is a PhD from the school of Public Health, is a CPA and served on the AHS board.
Lorraine (Lori) Sheremeta is a lawyer by training who works with a variety of organizations to develop and oversee the responsible development and delivery of new technologies and existing clinical services to people who need them. Lori has worked as a registered medical technologist (Nuclear Medicine), a clinical researcher and a law/policy researcher. She has served on clinical ethics (University of Alberta Hospital) and research ethics boards (Health Research Ethics Board of Alberta, Alberta Cancer Board Animal Care Committee) and has extensive knowledge about how new technologies are developed, adopted and used. Lori received both her Bachelor of Laws (2000) and Master of Law (2006) degrees from the University of Alberta. During her studies, Lori was the recipient of a prestigious CIHR Health Law and Policy Scholarship. She was called to Bar of British Columbia in 2001.
Dr. Neil Gibson is a retired General Internist and Intensivist who works within Alberta Health Services caring for patients in a Medical Leadership role. Dr. Gibson has leadership experience gleaned from the Canadian Armed Forces as well as Alberta Health Services. He has served on the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta Council and Complaints Review Committee. Dr. Gibson received his Medical and Fellowship training at McMaster University.
Dr. Gayleen Jorgensen is a Calgary Family Physician who has practiced in many facets of this discipline. She has served in general office practice, hospital care, emergency medicine and in long term care. She is especially passionate about obstetrics and is a founding member of the Peter Lougheed Maternity Care Clinic. She is a clinical lecturer at the University of Calgary. Outside of medicine Dr. Jorgensen is an enthusiastic naturalist and volunteers hundreds of hours a year to teaching primarily school children about our wonderful natural world.
Ayodele (Stephen) Akindipe is a Certified Family Physician who practices comprehensive family medicine at two designated rural Central Alberta communities. Stephen is currently the Vice Chair of the Big Country Primary Care Network. He has been on the board for over five years. Stephen is a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners of the United Kingdom and Certificant of the Canadian College of Family Physicians. Stephen holds Faculty appointments in the Departments of Family Medicine at both the Universities of Alberta and Calgary.
