Kurtis Leinweber has worked for over 25 years in public education as a teacher, principal, and system leader in Alberta. He is currently the Deputy Superintendent and Chief Operations Officer at Foundations for the Future Charter Academy, a public charter jurisdiction in Calgary serving a population of more than 3700 students across eight campuses. In this capacity, some of his primary areas of responsibility include school planning and development, operational systems oversight (including information and educational technologies), and human resources.

Catharine McCauley has more than thirty years experience in the field of education. She currently serves as an educational leadership consultant after retiring as the Executive Director for the Calgary Regional Consortium (CRC), a position she held from September 2014 – December 2019. As the Executive Director, Cathy worked with leaders from school authorities across the greater Calgary area in the provision of professional learning supports that aligned with Alberta Education’s mandate for education in our province. Prior to taking on the leadership of the CRC, Cathy honed her skills as an educator through roles as a classroom teacher, school administrator and central office coordinator. She earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Master of Arts Integrated Studies degree from Athabasca University.

Joanne Hunt has extensive and varied experience and expertise in the field of education. She holds a Bachelor of Science (what is now Human Ecology) from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education and Master of Education in Counselling Psychology, both from the University of Calgary. Joanne has worked in 4 school districts within Alberta encompassing public, separate and private schools. She has taught a wide range of subject areas and has extensive administrative experience at both system and school-based levels, having been a high school principal at 3 urban schools. Joanne has been both a member and chair of a variety of school district education committees, a board member of the CanLearn Society and Executive Director of the Hera Society. Joanne provided many years of volunteer service related to the teaching profession and as a long-time member of the Calgary Board of Education’s Critical Incident Response team.

Lorrie Sparks is a teacher who teaches elementary school children.
Lorrie has experience serving on the board of McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Assoc. and a Practice Review Committee with the Ministry of Education.
Lorrie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Alberta.

Alana holds a Bachelor of Education degree, as well as a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Pedagogy, from the University of Alberta. At present, she is part of the Wellness Education Teacher Focus Group with Alberta Education, and chairs various councils and committees at her current school. Alana is passionate about lifelong learning and equipping students with the tools necessary to lead successful and fulfilling lives.

Allen is the Education Manager, undergraduate and post-graduate programs at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and Dept. of Family Medicine, Albert Health Services. Allen has 30 years' experience in post-secondary education, primarily in Allied Health programs teaching a variety of Human Anatomy and Physiology courses. He served on the governance boards of the Canadian Association of Allied Health Programs and the North Shore Rescue Team Society. Allen has a doctorate in Zoology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Avril Colenutt is a lawyer and adjudicator and currently sits as the vice-chair of the Community and Social Services Board, hearing appeals for multiple panels. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of British Columbia. Avril has previously worked with Legal Aid Alberta, the Justice Studies Program at Bow Valley College, and the City of Calgary Law Department. She volunteers as a pro bono lawyer with Calgary Legal Guidance and is a volunteer member of the Calgary Search and Rescue Association.

Hamish Henderson has been involved in a General Practice Law in Alberta for over 32 years. He has appeared regularly before all level of the Alberta Courts, as well as numerous Boards and Tribunals. Mr. Henderson is also a Mediator and Registered Collaborative Family Law Lawyer, as well as a part-time Correctional Services Adjudicator and Chair of the Insurance Councils Appeal Board.

She worked in community mental health clinics in Alberta for 12 years, before going into private practice approximately 11 years ago. Maryanne Kingma earned her Master of Law degree from Dalhousie University. She has more than 25 years of experience in administrative law. Ms. Kingma has adjudicative and management experience developed in workers’ compensation, inmate discipline, immigration and refugee law, and community and social service programs. She is a principled and fair decision-maker with expertise and success in building collaborative and inclusive service teams. She is also an accomplished educator, a constant learner and skilled communicator. She has taught business law for 10 years and has presented at professional development conferences on a variety of administrative law topics.

Nabil Malik has a BA Spec. Hons. in Geography & Urban Studies and Certificate in Migration & Refugee Studies. He also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies in the Planning Program and a Graduate Diploma in Democratic Administration. With a reputation as a high-achieving and emerging scholar and professional, Nabil has received multiple prestigious scholarships and awards including the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Master’s Scholarship from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada and funding from the Canadian Polar Commission. He has presented at several notable international conferences and has published his research on sustainability, stakeholder engagement and consultation, immigrant settlement and policy development and implementation. As a Network Member of Arctic-FROST, Nabil is part of an international and interdisciplinary network aiming to mobilize research on sustainable development in the global Polar region. He is also an active volunteer in his community. Currently, he is a Statutory Planner and Development Officer within Northern Alberta. As a planner, Nabil upholds strong ethnical and professional standards as a Candidate Member with the Canadian Institute of Planners and Alberta Professional Planners Institute and as a Member of the Alberta Development Officer’s Association.
