Clark, Greg

Mr. Greg Clark was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He graduated in 1993 from the University of Victoria with a degree in Political Science, minoring in Sociology and holds an MBA from Royal Roads University, graduating in 2005. He returned to Alberta to work for Laurence Decore, who was then leader of the Official Opposition Alberta Liberals.


Deciding to leave politics for a time, Mr. Clark earned an MBA and in 2006 co-founded an Information Technology consulting firm C3 Associates. The firm earned a distinction as one of Alberta Venture's 50 fast growth companies in 2011 and 2012. C3 Associates was also named one of Canada's top 250 information technology companies by the Branham Group in 2012 and 2013. In 2015, Mr. Clark was named one Alberta's 50 Most Influential by Alberta Venture Magazine.


In 2013, Mr. Clark sold his share of C3 to his partners to enter politics full-time. He is the former leader of the Alberta Party, and in the 2015 Alberta general election was elected the party's sole Member of the Legislative Assembly, representing Calgary-Elbow. Mr. Clark resigned as leader on November 18, 2017, and served as interim leader until the leadership election when Stephen Mandel was elected the new leader of the party.


Mr. Clark’s community involvement is extensive. His contributions include being co-chair of the parent council at his children’s school, coach of his daughter’s soccer team, a volunteer with Calgary Reads to promote literacy and vice-chair of the Distress Centre in Calgary. Following the 2013 flooding in southern Alberta, he co-founded the Calgary River Communities Action Group.


Mr. Clark grew up in Calgary-Elbow and still makes his home here with his wife and two children, who attend local public schools.


Competencies required for the board chair of the Balancing Pool include: leadership, governance, enterprise risk management, financial management, and/or strategic planning. Mr. Clark was directly recruited and appointed on the basis of meeting the competencies, skills and attributes as described above.

Plouffe, Michelle

Michelle Plouffe is the Vice President, General Counsel and Compliance Officer at MacEwan University and had obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree and her Law degree from the University of Alberta. Michelle is a legal and strategic advisor to the MacEwan University Board of Governors and its Audit Committee, Campus Planning Committee, Governance and Human Resources Committee, and Foundation Board. She has been a board member for the Association of Corporate Counsel, Alberta Chapter, and is currently the Chair of the Hospital Privileges Appeal Board, a member of the Balancing Pool Board of Directors, and the Chair of the Balancing Pool Board Governance and Human Resources Committee. Ms. Plouffe has been a volunteer member of the Law Society of Alberta Audit Committee and is currently a volunteer member on the Conduct Committee.
