Huot, Denis
Born and raised in Alberta, Denis Huot did his undergraduate education at the University of Alberta; he has a law degree from the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University. He has extensive Board and Chair experience with local boards and community associations. Denis was an active lawyer for 25.5 years both as a crown prosecutor and as a private lawyer. As a Crown prosecutor, Denis oversaw the implementation of the Mental Health Diversion Project in Red Deer. Denis is currently a part-time instructor at the Donald School of Business in Red Deer.
Gordon, Alan
Dr. Alan Gordon is a well-known Edmonton psychiatrist who has worked for many years in a variety of clinical settings, including Alberta Hospital Edmonton, the University of Alberta Hospital, the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and for 38 years at the Edmonton Mental Health Clinic where he continues to work part time. He has considerable administrative experience as Medical Director at Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Chief of Psychiatry at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and Regional Clinical Director for the whole of Edmonton.
Rourke, Margaret
Margaret Rourke completed her Doctor of Medicine and psychiatry training at the University of Alberta. During her sixteen years in clinical practice, she worked in Geriatric Psychiatry, private psychotherapy practice as well as a clinical lecturer at the University of Alberta. Since 2018, she has worked on the Mental Health Review Board as the Psychiatrist Member. Her past community volunteer experience includes various roles on the Edmonton Academy Parent Council Executive and the University of Alberta Steadward Centre Fundraising Committee.
Tanguay, Karen
Dr. Karen Tanguay is a Consultant Psychiatrist who has practiced in the Calgary Community in various capacities including The Operational Stress Injury Clinic; Eastside Family Centre; Mount Royal University Health Services; S.A.I.T., Arnika Centre; Alberta Mental Health as well as Community private practice. She is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine where she teaches Communication Skills, Ethics, Well Physician and Interdisciplinary Skills to the medical students and Psychiatric Practice to Family Medicine and Psychiatry Residents. Karen completed her Psychiatric Residency, Medical School and Masters of Medical Science at the University of Calgary. Her BSc. (Hons) is from the University of Edinburgh where she grew up.
Oyetola, Shola
Dr. Oyetola is a psychiatrist certified by the RCPSC who works with AHS to support patients with mental illness. Shola holds a double honors degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
Jackman, Joshua
Joshua is passionate about improving the health and welfare of Albertans. As a graduate of the University of Alberta MBA program (finance), he has over ten years of diverse experience in investment management, accounting, and financial services. He is also actively involved as a volunteer for financial literacy, transferring his knowledge and experience to peers, adults, and the next generation of business leaders. Additionally, Joshua enjoys running long distances and continues to reach new heights in his marathon training.
Kherani, Shaffin
Mr. Shaffin Kherani completed a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Agriculture Economics, and a Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta. He is currently employed with the City of Edmonton as a Corporate Infrastructure Manager. His professional experience includes over a decade of management experience with the City of Edmonton, University of Alberta, Government of Alberta and various private sector industries. Mr. Kherani’s background also involves current and past service on the Board of Directors of non-profit organizations. Mr. Kherani is also currently a public member for the Edmonton and North Mental Health Review Panel.
Kravtsenyuk, Maryana
Dr. Kravtsenyuk is a forensic psychiatrist who works with mentally disordered accused population to provide psychiatric expertise and care at various stages of criminal proceedings. Dr. Kravtsenyuk has board/committee experiences from the following boards: Academic Indigenous Health Education Committee, Northern School of Medicine (September 2020 to present); Regional Advisory Committee, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (May 2020 to present).
Booyens, Carina
Carina Booyens is an avid mental health activist with lived experience as both a voluntary and a certified inpatient within the Alberta Health system. She lives and works in the oil sands where she openly shares about her struggles and that recovery is possible. Carina has 8 years board experience as a board member and chair of the CMHA Wood Buffalo. She is a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her work in mental health. She holds a Masters degree in Journalism from the University of the Free State, South Africa.
Tobias-Punzalan, Bea
Bea Tobias-Punzalan holds a Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology from the University of Alberta. About midway through her degree, she started volunteering with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, an organization that provides assistance to individuals and families in difficult times. Currently, Bea spends the majority of her time working at her parish, primarily as the digital content creator but also provides general planning and coordination assistance. In her personal life, Bea strives to leave a positive impact on those around her.
Wilkin, Georgeann
Ms. Georgeann Wilkin is currently retired from practice as a registered nurse and legal counsel. She is currently a public member on the Council of an Alberta Professional Regulator and has participated in various community volunteer activities. She has also participated as a public member for hearing tribunals under the Health Professions Act. Ms. Wilkin’s academic qualifications include RN, LLB and MSA.
Blimkie, Erica
Erica Blimkie is a psychiatrist who works with adults across the lifespan, with focus on mood, anxiety, psychotic disorders & perinatal mental health. Erica strives to improve mental health outcomes through evidence-based psychiatric care & advocacy. Erica has served on various educational & clinical committees, including curriculum development and psychotherapy. Erica is a board-certified Psychiatrist (FRCPC), trained at the University of Calgary. She obtained a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) and BHSc (Summa Cum Laude), from University of Ottawa.
Morrissette, Anita
Dr. Morrissette is a royal college certified Geriatric Psychiatrist who has past experience working within inpatient services through Villa Caritas in Edmonton, as well as outpatient services through Community Geriatric Psychiatry. She also provides consultation services for Edmonton West and Sherwood Park Primary Care Networks. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor with the University of Alberta and is involved in teaching psychiatry residents.
Orimalade, Olufunto (Funto)
Funto Orimalade is a Forensic Psychiatrist treating mental disorders and providing expert testimony. As a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Alberta's Department of Psychiatry, she teaches medical students and residents. Funto serves and has served on committees at the university and in the community, including the steering committee for the Adult Autism Diagnostic Clinic at Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. She earned her medical degree in Nigeria and trained in psychiatry in the UK. She has fellowships from the UK and Canada.
Enns, Christine
Christine S. Enns is a lawyer with several years of administrative tribunal experience drawn from her work as a Human Rights Officer with Alberta Human Rights Commission, as Chair and member of the Alberta Law Enforcement Review Board and as Chair and Commissioner with the Appeals Commission of Alberta Worker’s Compensation. Prior to her admission to the Law Society of Alberta in 2002, Christine worked as a professional musician with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and as a music teacher.
Steblecki Corns, Jane
Ms. Jane Steblecki Corns is a Registered Nurse and an active lawyer with a longstanding career focused on health and privacy law. She has experience appearing before administrative tribunals as well making administrative law decisions. Before acting as in-house conduct counsel for College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, Ms. Corns was a partner with Field LLP, worked for the Health Law Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Alberta as well as operated a private practice under Steblecki Law. Ms. Corns is also one of the founders of the Northern Alberta Canadian Bar Association Privacy Law section and has served on various health research ethics boards.
Marshall, Mary
Ms. Mary Marshall is a lawyer with many years of experience working in the operation of the health system and the delivery of health services. She has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto and a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge, and is a member in good standing with the Law Societies of Alberta and Upper Canada. Ms. Marshall has been part of a number of significant projects and committees, acting as an advisor, legal consultant and leader in preparing policy papers and advice on privacy legislation, amendments to the Health Information Act, the Mental Health Act and other health related legislation. In July 2017, she was appointed vice-chair for the Mental Health Review Panel Roster North Panel. Ms. Marshall has also been an active member of numerous committees including Accreditation Canada; the National Advisory Committee for the University of Alberta Information Access and Protection of Privacy Program; and Hearing Tribunals under the Health Professions Act. In addition to receiving a number of awards for meritorious service in the provision of quality legal services to Albertans, Ms. Marshall has also written on many topics relating to the health system and mental health in Canada.
Gorman, Chris
Dr. Chris Gorman is a practicing psychiatrist who currently works with outpatients as a psychiatric consultant for sleep, dermatology, and family practice clinics, and conducts research on bipolar disorder. He previously served as a clinical leader at an in/outpatient and day-program care centre. Chris has extensive experience working with involuntary patients, with clinical practice in Alberta (AB), British Columbia (BC), and California (USA). He has also contributed to several committees where his roles included selecting a department head for St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC. He served as the President of Medical Staff, reporting to the Medical Board of the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB. Chris holds a BA and an MD from the University of Alberta and holds Fellowship status from the Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
John, Nicholas
Dr. Nicholas John attended the University of Alberta (BMedSci, MD), Saskatchewan, Toronto (FRCP Psychiatry), and McGill (Arts). He currently is a community-based psychiatrist, having founded Academy Psychiatry in 2007. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta where he has taught psychiatric disability assessment, psychotherapy, and History of Psychiatry and Faculty of Extension courses. Dr. John also worked as a General Practitioner and has served on the Science Council of the Canadian Psychiatric Association.
MacArthur, Sarah
Dr. Sarah MacArthur is a practicing psychiatrist at the University of Alberta Hospital. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Acadia University, an MD degree at the University of Toronto, and completed a psychiatric residency at the University of Alberta. She has had the opportunity to sit on committees for both the Alberta Psychiatric Association and the Psychiatry Residency program at the University of Alberta.
Osinchuk, James
Dr. James Osinchuk graduated with honours from Austin O’Brien High School in 1972. He entered the University of Alberta in September of that year. In 1976 he was awarded his Bachelors of Medicine degree, and graduated in 1978 with his Medical Doctorate. He entered the university post graduate program in psychiatry, having interned at the Misericordia Hospital. He received his fellowship in June 1983 and is a member of The Royal College of Physicians and Psychiatrists. He is a member of the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta, Alberta Medical Association, Alberta Psychiatric Association and Canadian Medical Protection Association. As a resident, he completed two papers on the Mental Health Act and assisted with the rewrite of the Act in 2009, (proclaimed in 2010). His preferred areas of practice are inpatient psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry, outpatient consultation psychiatry, and he has worked in the areas of forensic psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry and emergency psychiatry. He has been actively involved with most aspects of psychiatry including patient assessments, counseling, mental health clinics, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry for thirty-four years.
Hutchinson, Lynn
Lynn Hutchinson has a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus in psychology. She has experience working in the mental health field as a Registered Social Worker. Lynn has worked in the field of trauma, grief, and loss and in conflict resolution as an arbitrator, coach, facilitator, and mediator. She has a background in legal studies and acts as a court appointed parenting expert.
Armstrong, Matthew
Matthew Armstrong works with the Product Design team at Hopewell Residential. He graduated from the University of Lethbridge, where he majored in Psychology, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2009. In 2011 he received a Diploma in Architectural Technologies, with Honours, from SAIT Polytechnic. After his studies, Matthew spent time working with various student advocacy organizations where he championed mental health. In 2013, while working as the Chairperson of the Alberta Students’ Executive Council he helped secure a $1.5 million dollar grant from the Ministry of Health for their members to run student lead mental health initiatives on campus.
Bradford, Megan
Megan Bradford is a second-generation Albertan with expertise in public policy and regulation. Megan holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Victoria, and over 10 years of experience in oil and gas, pipeline and power fields, and both in finance and regulatory roles. Megan has committee experience with the Land Agent Advisory Committee, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Pipeline Tariffs and Tolls Committee, and with the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.
Klein, Linda
Linda Klein is a retired justice system professional, having spent over 38 years working in the justice system. She was a parole officer and a program officer in the community and within a federal institution with Correctional Service Canada. After retiring, Linda was appointed to the Parole Board of Canada and then the Public Health Appeal Board. Linda is presently a community member of the Mental Health Review Board and continues to volunteer in the community with the Airdrie agricultural society and, more recently, the Calgary Distress Centre.
Windwick, Brent
Brent Windwick is a student, teacher and practitioner in health law, policy and research ethics. He was the Executive Director of the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta, and a lawyer with a specialized practice in health law and risk management for more than 30 years. Brent has a Master of Law degree from the University of Cambridge, advanced conflict resolution training from Harvard Law School, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health Care Quality from Queen’s University.
