Papirnik, Patti

Patricia Papirnik retired from the Government of Alberta after a career as a writer, policy analyst, executive assistant, and branch director. She supported the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer, the Private Colleges Accreditation Board, and the Campus Alberta Quality Council. As Director, Private Career Colleges, she provided regulatory oversight to private career colleges operating in Alberta, thereby offering consumer protection to students choosing a career college.

Upshaw, Doreen

Doreen Upshaw is an Employment Facilitator who works with Bow Valley College to assist learners with career development, training and employment decisions. Doreen has board experience as a board member with the Career Development Association of Alberta for the past 4 years. Doreen was certified in 2019 as an Implicit Career Practitioner. She graduated from the University of Calgary in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Criminology, Deviance & Social Control. She is passionately dedicated to equal treatment, diversity and inclusion.

Competencies required for members of the council of the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists include risk management, understanding of industry/sector and effective verbal communication. Doreen Upshaw was directly recruited and appointed based on meeting the competencies, skills and attributes as described above.

Dhingra, Poshika

Poshika is currently a doctor in the making. Previously, she has served on various committees to advance the cause of global health and advocacy. In her free time, she likes to hike, dance and cook.

Koop, Robert

Robert Koop was born in Winnipeg and attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Archaeology. After working with National Historic Sites, he returned to work on his Masters of Business Administration. Robert went on to work in Human Resources for a variety of employers providing leadership in recruitment, classification and employee relations through a variety of innovative approaches. One of his areas of expertise was the ability to establish the human resources role in an organization allowing it and its staff to grow. This involved working in numerous provinces growing his appreciation of Canadian diversity and strength. During this time he was actively involved in the community from scouting, literacy and ringette. He started teaching business courses while at Keyano College and continued through Athabasca University to a three year stint with the College of the North Atlantic in Qatar. Robert was an Associate with Transitional Solution based out of Calgary. Volunteering with Heritage Park and Calgary Zoo as well as serving an elected director on his condominium board. He worked as a trainer of election workers in the last two provincial elections. He went on to drive school buses for complex learning needs and francophone elementary students.
