Michael Humphreys worked as a lawyer in the United Kingdom, almost exclusively on behalf of members of Trade Unions, pursuing claims for damages for accidents at work, breaches of employment rights, discrimination and human rights violations. In 2000, he was appointed to sit as a Part Time Chairman of Employment Tribunals. In 2007, he came to Canada and obtained a position as an Appeals Advisor at the Workers’ Compensation Board.

After 34 years of service, Gary Peckham retired from the Alberta Public Service. In his roles he has had extensive management experience. Former positions include the Chair of the Alberta Debtors Assistance Board, Statute Administrator for various pieces of legislation and was the former Director of the Service Alberta’s Contact Centre. He has several management certificates and has received three Premier’s Awards of Excellence during his career.

Todd Laycock has 25 years with the Edmonton Police Service, 2014 he moved to industrial security. He has experience in operational, investigative, administrative, patrol, major crimes and human resources divisions. His work in industrial security is with Alberta oil and gas. He has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Alberta, Certificate in Police Management from University of Alberta Faculty of Extension, and designations in industrial security from the American Society for Industrial Security.

Jamie Tiessen brings experience and extensive knowledge of governance, tribunals and policies, with expertise in administering, supporting and delivering programs and services that represent the interests of residents, government and stakeholders. Jamie has served the public on many boards and tribunals including the Appeals panels for the ministries of Human Services and Health. Throughout his 23-year career in media and broadcasting, he has operated radio stations and broadcast networks in the Calgary area, and held positions as an executive, director, chairperson and consultant.

Charles Fisher is an adjudicator with many years of experience adjudicating workers compensation, injury and medical disability appeals claims. He has a 30-year history of involvement in labour arbitrations, occupational health and safety, workers compensation and medical disability related appeal hearings. He has received specific training from the Alberta Foundation of Administrative Justice in all areas of Administrative Law.

Miles Weatherall is a Management Consultant, he was with Alberta Public Service for 38 years. He has experience in quasi-judicial roles, is a member of the Municipal Government Board, the Life Insurance Council and the Alberta Mental Health Review Panel Roster. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Public Administration with Distinction, a Certificate in Public Administration from Athabasca University and a Master of Business Administration at Athabasca University.
Field-Ridley, Tiana
Tiana Field-Ridley is currently a mental health first aid instructor working in a variety of industries as a facilitator. She has also been a member of the Mental Health Review Panel, a quasi-judicial board, for the past six years, and serves on some community boards to develop recreational community projects. She is certified in mediation and conflict resolution and is involved in alternate dispute resolution processes. Underpinning her experience is a Bachelor of Human Services with a major in Psychology.

Gibson Glavin was with the Alberta Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for over 31 years, in positions of Executive Assistant to the Senior Deputy Commissioner at RCMP Headquarters in Ottawa, Aid-de-Camp for Lieutenant Government of Alberta, Officer in Charge of Strategic Communications and Provincial Support Services for Alberta RCMP. He has experience as a tribunal adjudicator, a degree in Communications, Certificate in Police Leadership, and a Qualified Arbitrator (Q.Arb.).

Vesna Kavaz is an educator and appeal board member. She was appointed to five Community and Social Services Appeal Panels in 2016. She has worked at community agencies, schools, universities and colleges. David Melney completed the MacEwan law enforcement program. He was a police officer in Hinton and then at Edmonton Police Service (EPS). In 1991, he was with Alberta Justice as a Provincial Prosecutor, prosecuting regulatory offences. He served as a Hearing Adjudicator with the Solicitor General of Alberta. In retirement, he was a member of the Attendance Board with Alberta Education and President of the Alberta Provincial Prosecutors Association.

In 2011, he held a position at Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) Alberta, to interpret and apply WCB policies through medical investigation and weighing of evidence, as a WCB Advocate at a large-scale union. Currently, he is a business insurance broker assisting employers by providing expert advice in occupational and non-occupational absences and its effects on premium rates.

Gordon Bogstie finished a 32 year career with Canada Post. He has served on two previous boards. He was appointed to the Board of Referees for nine years, which dealt with matters concerning employment insurance. He has also served on the Appeals Commission for the Worker's Compensation Board of Alberta as an appeals commissioner. He has a degree from the University of Calgary in history.

Mr. Jerard McKenna is a lawyer in Alberta and is involved in work relating to administrative tribunals, including giving legal advice. For the past several years he has also been involved with three different administrative tribunals as a member, and have thereby developed skills in participating as part of a panel of tribunal members. Lisa also has specialized training as a legal nurse consultant. She is currently serving on the Hearing Tribunal with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
