The Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act (APAGA) requires that all public agencies have a Mandate and Roles Document and a Code of Conduct. Both must be made available to the public. These documents are posted in the list of public agencies for all public agencies subject to the APAGA.

The Council reports to the Minister of Aboriginal Relations and is responsible for providing strategic advice and recommendations to the Government of Alberta, other government councils, and interested stakeholders to address the issues that are unique to Métis and Inuit women which lead to strengthening the economic security of Métis and Inuit women.
